Audible read. Great voice actors.

This was okay overall, it was a bit of a mixed bag in the sense that some parts felt dragged out and others rushed. The magic system seemed more problematic than helpful. However, I loved the characters and the execution of the LGBTQ representation.

I'm quite a wee bit behind on my amount of books read goal for this year so a quick middle grade book is always a quick fix. I was intrigued by the concept but I was really sold on the writting style surrounding the idea of the lovebugs.

Overall this has a pretty predictable storyline but what doesn't these days? Anyway the writing is great, the imagery is impeccable and I'm a sucker for a found family trope. I would love a sequel on where they go from here.

Audible read. Great voice actors.

In a lot of ways it was predictable and in some ways not what i expected. I went into this excitedly hoping for a slight enemies to lovers in a broody literary setting which it kind of is but more in a chasing a cold case type of way.

The world building was interesting but felt a bit confusing in a ' not completely thought through ' sort of vibe.

The main characters were cute for each other but both naive overall and missing a bit of common sense in where they kept leaving the evidence with the one person they were hiding them from! Also love that effie found some backbone and a partner with a matching one who stands up for her and considerate of her traumas. However, even if we overlook the fact that most of that is the bare minimum of basic human decency, i wish that she had been able to find more strength within herself not just because a boy liked her. That said, it's obviously something that would take more time for her to achieve than their circumstances allowed.

My favorite character is obviously Angharad! I kept waiting for her to show up and I was so happy when she finally did! I wish so much that her book was real because if anything this book felt like an ad for that one.

Overall not a bad read, the journey was fun and I loved learning about the different 'cultures' in their world.

Audible read. Amazing voice actors.

This was an amazing book!! The world building was fantastic and the main characters were incredibly complex, absolutely hilarious and intensely relatable without trying too hard. The concept of the vagrant hills incites both whimsy and utter confusion.

I wish there was more for a million reasons.

Audible read. Good voice actors.

Very sweet story about the relationship between fate and the what ifs that surround it. It also does a great job of showing the complexity of developing dementia while maintaining a certain measure of respectful lightheartedness.

My only complaint is the erratic pacing. Most of the book felt almost painfully slow while others felt rushed.

Audible read. Great voice actors.

It looks like there's a fourth book on the way but for now I'll treat this as a trilogy.

I am enjoying this series so far, the world building does a great job at blending the nostalgia of the past with certain futuristic conveniences.

The characters are absolutely adorable especially Owein & Baptiste. Never would i have ever thought i would connect with and cry over a house turned dog but that line about his heartbeat keeping him company, absolutely broke me. I will absolutely riot if Baptiste doesn't get his cow soon.

Overall this was fun to read and reminded me a lot of "The house in the cerulean sea" by TJ Klune. My only complaint is the way the magic system works logistically.
