This was very odd and the gothic vibes were there. I like both of those aspects about it and it probably will be a book that parts of it stay in my mind, but I’m not fully on board either.

Crimson Peak vibes, sure.  No one expected it to be as good as Crimson Peak though right? 😅 sorry!
I honestly don’t know how to feel about this book.  I was very excited for it, but watched a YouTuber talk it down a bit after they read it.  I’m happy I saw that video before reading it because it lowered my expectations so I wasn’t too disappointed by this book.

There are good parts in the book and make me curious to read more by Caitlin Starling, but it just didn’t 100% work for me.  Some parts I found myself chuckling and saying “uh oookay” and yet, I couldn’t put the book down.

I’d say give it a try if you like fricken WEIRD books and gothic tales.  Just don’t get your hopes too high, just to be safe.
