The Test by Sylvain Neuvel

Really liked this. Where I thought the story was going after the kill 3 simulation was that the very test made to certify his non-terroristic behavior would spur him to plot terror against the government for devising such a test, which, imo, would have been thematically cooler, so the last 10 pages were sort of a let down.

Well Met by Jen DeLuca

This book is a perfect example of my least favorite trope of all time: purposeful lack of communication to add drama. Fuck. It got so frequent in the back half that I found myself rolling my eyes every few pages. Just ... say the shit you're feeling so we can all stop wasting our time with these paper-thin forced misunderstandings. Eurghhhh.
Why do these characters like each other? They go from plain dislike to love without a whole lot of in-between. Emily is insecure to the point of being a caricature and Simon is basically *two different caricatures.*
I dunno, man. This was just not for me. The setting was adorable and the premise was cute, but the execution was so far off the mark. Can't quite understand why this is such a hit.

This made me extremely fucking nauseous and uncomfortable, so I guess it did what it set out to achieve.
