Being a woman in your twenties is such a universal experience and yet feels so lonely. Dolly reminded me that I do not sit in my twenties alone; if anything, I'm running through it with more love than I can imagine.

Dolly states "nearly everything I know about love, I've learnt from my long-term friendships with women." Despite my various relationships and situationships with a range of men since the beginning of my twenties, none of them compare to the intimacy of bingeing the Rocky films and eating popcorn for dinner with a Abby in the aftermath of a breakup. A kiss goodnight doesn't compare to 6:30 a.m. conversations with Sadie as we get ready for work. The boys don't compare to the late night drives with Grace listening to the new Taylor Swift album after a Target trip. Not even the best man with the best apartment compares to the feeling of coming home to Maddie and feeling my emotional walls fall into unapologetic tears or complaints or giggles.

Everything I know about love--genuine love, love that is patient and kind, love that is not envious and prideful--comes from the women I am running through my twenties with. I couldn't be more grateful for them.

agrressive and protective maternal figures will always be my comfort characters and politicians who take advantage of sweet men will always be my number one enemies.

(but for real, if I ever see someone like Richard Theo in a parking lot, it is on site.)

my fatal flaw is that I want a world with princes--cute, charming, chivalrous, classic princes.

I always appreciate being represented in literature (a delusional hopeless romantic who can devour a burger like a starving Victorian child).
