Cheryl had me convinced that I could also hike the PCT with little to no preparation and gain clarity about grief, but after going on a 1.2 mile hike this morning, I am glad to say I am no longer confident in my nonexistent abilities. nonetheless, a beautiful memoir with biting, funny, and lyrical writing.

Khalil Gibran is my favorite feminist. and philosopher. and theologian. and don't even get me started on how beautiful his writing is. Gibran is simply exquisite.

we need to give more respect to how beautiful Claire's coming-of-age narrative is.

(and we need to honor Jonas as the young adult heartthrob he is. like he saved a baby and then became a powerful leader and now is a good husband and dad? Lois Lowry really did us a favor and we have given her nothing in return.)

but Claire's coming-of-age narrative? stunning. beautiful. a great commentary on sacrifice and motherhood.

Mr. Daniels is my new teaching icon. Shay, however, would not survive a week in Miss Mulligan's classroom.
