Corrupt by Penelope Douglas
Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.

i cannot take this book seriously and i will drop this before it puts me into a book slump, so sorry to my friend who wanted me to read this.

“i am jean moreau, i have always gotten exactly what i deserve.” 

i saw that nora said this book was sadder than the three books and i thought to myself, “how?”, and those were my famous last words.

it might be sadder than all three previous books combined which is a hard thing to do.

jean’s story is truly heartbreaking. just when you think, “it can’t get worse than this”, it gets worse. the things he had to go through because of riko is heart shattering and inhuman. the worst part is that he truly believes that he deserved everything that happened to him. he didn’t deserve anything he got. 

riko and tetsuji and grayson and zane and those bitches don’t deserve anything and i hope the ones who haven’t met their end, meets their end.

like jean could not catch a break during this book and it made me so upset.

but jean has good people around him now. coach wymack and abby and neil and kevin. coach wymack especially, he cares for jean like he is one of the foxes and it truly warmed my heart so much. even after jean went to cali wymack was still there for him. 

neil. don’t even get me started on that beautiful man. he truly is the best character to ever be created. the way he helped jean. i love you neil. always will.

jeremy. i love this man so much. i’m so excited to see their relationship evolve in the next book. he is truly truly such a kind soul and he cares about jean so much. they have my heart fluttering and melting and screaming already 

i hope that jean can realize that the trojans are his friends and are there for him. i hope jean can heal and trust them all. i hope he finds peace and moves on. i hope he can find happiness. i hope he and jeremy are happy. 

also side note ik they’re probably gonna go against the foxes in the finals and that breaks my heart bc who am i supposed to root for? i will always root for the foxes but i want to see jeremy and jean win. nora this is evil😭

anyway i enjoyed this book so much even though it broke me, the ending gave me hope and i can’t wait for the next book.

this book is amazing. this series is amazing. it will hold such a special space in my heart forever and it will never leave my read. i will think about this series and andrew and neil every single day for the rest of my life. 

is this book the best book ever written? no. but is in my top three series/books i’ve ever read? yes. the plot and story is just so good. it gave me whiplash from all the emotions i felt while reading this and how fast those emotions changed. it is funny and unserious and heartwarming and serious but it’s just as heartbreaking and devastating. 

neil and andrew’s relationship is so well written. they slowly got closer and developed feelings for each other and it was such a healthy relationship unironically. 

neil’s the only one who can get to andrew and convince him to do things just by asking. and andrew helped ground neil from his panic attacks. even if both are terrible at comforting but somehow it works for them and gets them to calm down. lol.

like they are so so so perfect and healthy and beautiful i actually can’t get enough of them. 

we could not catch a break throughout this book. just when you think it can’t get worse, it gets worse.

i HATE riko with every fiber of my being. 

but despite that, there was a lot of positive in the book believe it or not.

AND THE FOUND FAMILY IN THIS IS LITERALLY TOP TIER ITS TOO GOOD. the foxes care about neil so fckn much it’s so heartwarming to see. they’re always checking on him and making sure he’s okay. and neil doing everything to keep them safe even if it means getting himself hurt. which is what andrew does too, but only for the like five people he cares about. but neil and andrew are much more similar than they seem. 

this series also makes me so hyped up for a made up sport. i’m on the edge of my seat every time they play and i get so nervous LOL. 

i seriously seriously could go on and on about this series. 

i saw a comment somewhere that said “its clear nora knows nothing about sports, drugs, gangs, mental health/trauma, gay ppl, but wrote 3 books about all of the above” and it’s very true, it’s not the best written book but i still love this series so much and it quite literally changed the trajectory of my life.

andrew and neil are my favorite. 

6/5 stars.

i don’t even know where to start. this book truly ripped my heart out, stomped on it, and shredded it to pieces before giving it back to me with duct tape on the side. i’m hoping the next book will duct tape it all back together.

such a good book. but it’s so heartbreaking.

it was also funny and heartwarming but the last half was hard.

i want to give andrew and neil the biggest hugs. kevin and jean too for being at edgar allen.

andrew :( i just :( i can’t imagine his trauma. i seriously. my heart breaks for him.

andrew and aaron don’t have the best relationship but they truly care about each other.

also the reason behind why andrew wore the arm sleeve things :(

andrew and neil are more alike than i thought.

neil :( he did everything for the foxes and especially andrew.  

he said that the foxes were worth every cut and bruise and scream.

i sobbed.

fuck riko and his family. fuck them all. i hate them so much. 

jean :( someone get him out of there. someone rescue him. 

like i said before this book had its funny and heart warming moments though. 

like neil and andrew like each other so much but neil is so oblivious to it but it’s funny.

“why haven’t you asked andrew out” “im not his type” “i don’t understand” “im a women” “oh so kevin” neil my brother in christ. 

the foxes truly care about each other so much even if they had a bit of a rocky start. they slowly got closer. and they all care about neil sm. 

neil “he didn’t have words so he answered with his fists” josten.

neil “i said please. i tried to be nice” josten.

he truly ate the house down with every single comeback and silenced whoever he was talking to. 

wymack is so funny and nicky too. 

this book is truly so so good. even if it broke my heart. i loved it so much. idk if im ready for the last book.

this book is nothing like i’ve read. it’s really dark and i know it’s only going to get darker in the next two books and im lowkey scared but im so ready. 

neil. i just want to give him a big hug. he deserves nothing but happiness. i love his character so so much. after what he went through, he’s seriously so strong. he’s so unintentionally funny though. idk if nora wrote meant for him to be funny but he had me chuckling to myself. i’m already dreading reading the pain he’s going to go through the next two books bc there’s no way he won’t with his background. but i’m also so curious to see how the rest of the series plays out. 

andrew is such an interesting character. like i’ve never met a character as unhinged as him and i’m so curious about his backstory and why he turned out the way he is. i’m very intrigued by him. is it bad if i say i love his character despite the way he acts. possessiveness over kevin and neil is so cute in a twisted heartwarming way.

i love the found family that is forming already with the foxes. matt and dan being so protective of neil and looking out for him is so heartwarming like its everything neil needs. wymack slowly becoming a fatherly figure for neil is going to be so sweet seeing it unravel. 

also neil fr eating everyone up with his comebacks like HELLO WHAT A KING! and that match had me on the edge of my seat. that club scene though… i don’t even wanna think about it. the interview too omg i gasped so hard. and the ending??? 

i’m curious to see how neil, kevin and riko’s relationship will go down. relationship is a very loose word. but i already hate riko.

anyway i loved this book. i didn’t expect it to be so dark and angsty but its so good and addicting?? it’s nothing like what i’ve read before but the genre isn’t something i’m new to. it hard to explain like this series is so much more. i already know this series will live in my head rent free after i’m done with it. i’m so excited.

was just like a little novella about cardan and it’s cute and simple and i love cardan. i hate nicasia and i love jude. i enjoyed it, it was simple but i wish there was more. it gave cardan backstory and his pov of how he began to think about jude constantly and how he hated it. and it gave a little snippet of cardan and jude after the folk of the air series and it’s cute. i love them so much i need more.

also the book is so pretty with the illustrations and it looks like a fairytale fr.

this book is perfect. i enjoyed every single thing.

CARDAN BRO IM SO IN LOVE WITH HIM IM SO IN LOVE WITH HIM IM SO IN LOVE WITH HIMMMMMM.

he knew right away that it was jude in front of him instead of taryn, who jude was pretending to be. and card and reason behind the exile literally is so funny, he wanted her to figure out it was a riddle for her and that there was a loophole for her to come back. he just wanted her to be proud of him for thinking of the riddle LOL.

AND THE LETTERS. “did you get my letters” “what?” SHE DIDNT GET HIS LETTERS AND IT WILL FOREVER HAUNT ME THAT SHE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO READ THOSE LETTERS😭😭 cardan was literally begging jude to come back to faerieland. “come home and shout at me. come home and fight with me. come home and break my heart, if you must. just come home” SOBBING. “my heart is buried with you in the strange soil of the mortal world, as it was drowned with you in the cold waters of the undersea. it was yours before i could admit it, and yours it shall ever remain.” HE WANTED HER TO COME HOME SO BADLY.

and he loves her literally so much. he’s always staring at her and he protects her and the amount of power he has is so HOT.

like when she first came back to faerieland and was taken by madoc and cardan killed half of madocs army because he didn’t want to lose jude agai

n LIKE SCREAMING AND BLUSHING. AND

when he went to the mortal world and showed up to vivi’s apartment and almost tore apart the place to find jude😩 AND EVEN WHILE HE WAS A SNAKE HE ALWAYS KNEW HER EVEN THOUGH IT WAS FILLED WITH DARKNESS😭😭 “i knew little else, but i always knew you” WHICH WAS PROVEN BC IN SNAKE FORM, HE ONLY LET HER COME CLOSE TO HIM.

CARDAN MF GREENBRIAR IM SO IN LVOE IMWITH TOU.

and we find out that he was the one who gifted her that new ball gown at the coronation in the first book

LIKE I KNEW IT AHHHH.

it’s so satisfying to see how much cardan and jude care for each other.

with jude realizing

that she truly loves cardan. like she missed him so much and she constantly craves him by her side.

their love confession was literally so 😫 had me screaming and kicking my feet.

and when cardan said

“by you, i am forever undone”

SCREAMING BLUSHING KICKING MY FEET POUNDING MY FIST AGAINST MY PILLOW.

and i hated taryn but she redeemed herself in this book so love her now lol. vivi and oak are lovely as always and i love the bomb and the roach as always too. im glad the ghost had a good reason for his betrayal and that he redeemed himself as well.

the plot was immaculate. i literally am so in love with this series and this book especially. it will live in my head rent free and i will think about it every day. it is so perfect. i cant say enough great things and i could go on and on about this book and cardan and jude. i love them.

i don’t even know where to start. the plot twists, the amount of times i gasped.

CARDAN😭😭😩🧎‍♀️ i need him so bad. every time he pops up i literally highlight it bc im so obsessed with him that everything he does is so hot. the power he has as high king is SO HOT TOO. literally on my knees for him always.

when he told jude to crawl to him i had to take a moment and calm down. even though it wasn’t said sexually or anything and it was just to prove that she couldn’t be glamoured but like he could’ve chosen any command and he chose THAT😩

im so in love with him. i want him i need him. he’s literally so AHHHHH.

though i’m so confused why he would exile her.

jude i love her so much. she literally gets more and more badass as the story progresses.

i HATE her fckn twin sister taryn. she keeps betraying her and jude keeps forgiving her but i can’t be bothered. i hate taryn since the first book.

ALSO CARDAN SAYING THAT HE TRUSTS JUDE AND HE WANTED TO SHOW HER THAT HE TRUSTS HER AHHH BLUSHING AND KICKING MY FEET FR.

AND the only reason cardan thought taryn was jude was because she was wearing the earrings that made her appear more beautiful than usual. CARDAN THINKS OF JUDE AS THE PRETTIER TWIN IM SCREAMING AND BLUSHING AND POUNDING MY FIST AGAINST MY PILLOW. PLUS the fact that he was just poisoned too.

like cardan you are the man.

anyway back to that

rat taryn, jude deserves better. and FUCK the ghost and madoc.

anyway i love cardan and jude. i love the bomb and the roach. and i love vivi. but cardan and judeeeee, im excited to see how their relationship progresses in the next book.

yall. i love this book so much. 

i love cardan so much. i love the tension between cardan and jude. i love the true enemies to lovers in this. why is cardan SO HOT. he didn’t do anything but drink wine and look pretty but bro he is so gorgeous. had me on my knees every time he popped up. 

and jude is so badass i love her sm. the tension at the party where they couldn’t stop looking at each other?? 

“have i told you how hideous you look tonight?” “no, tell me” “i cannot” AHHHHHHHH IT HITS DIFFERENT BECAUSE FAERIES CANT LIE. 

and the kiss??? i was listening to me and your mama by childish gambino during the kiss scene and it literally lined up so perfectly, the beat changed when i got to cardan kissing her back and i didn’t even plan for this to happen, but it made the experience 100x better. 

oh my gosh i was literally blushing screaming and kicking my feet and pounding my fist against my pillow so many times near the end. i love this slow burn. 

i cannot wait until they get together and the plot is so interesting. i love this book. it will live in my head rent free. CARDAN 😩🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️ KING CARDAN🤭✊🧎‍♀️
