Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter

If you like YA romance, this is a perfect, fun YA romance!!! It is aggressively YA, but I see that as a strength. I think the pop culture references work better in audio! I loved listening to it.
Sexless in the City: A Sometimes Sassy, Sometimes Painful, Always Honest Look at Dating, Desire, and Sex by Kat Harris
4.5
Definitely for people who grew up in a certain religious context and have since tried to heal/move forward from that context. I heard about this book on a podcast like 5 years ago and always remembered the title because it’s funny. When I found the audio book on Hoopla, I thought it’d be painless to try it. I read all the “undoing” purity culture books for “fun”. It’s a tough genre that often lacks honesty and vulnerability. This gets 4.5 stars from me because, love it or hate it, it feels honest. This conversation exists in the real world and not some magical traumatizing church container like 99% of the popular conversations on this topic.
Glad I waited to listen because idk if I would have been able to really understand her perspective 5 years ago over all the trauma.
It has some of the Christian book voice and writing pitfalls, but I think it’s a worthwhile conversation.

Binged this book in one day on audio! The audiobook was perfect. I couldn't think of a better sequel. It felt authentic to the original story but added so much life and depth to the characters at the same time. I LOVED all of the Wes Bennett pining. He's perfect. Around the 93% mark, he was so darn sweet and earnest, I literally screamed. SUCH a sweet, happy series.
