I was able to read an ARC of this. I really enjoyed it. I sweet love story, but layered with grief, tugs of family obligations, life crossroads, adventure! Something for everyone.  I could have done without some of the really flowery Romance language but it was sweet and a fun read.

This book was so well written! It alternates between a history of the Five Tribes in Oklahoma and the Supreme Court cases that determined upheld their status as reservations. Nagle does a great job of making the legalese easier to understand. I also really appreciated that she includes her own family’s history throughout and explained her personal connection to the story as well as struggling with the actions of her own family members as slaveholders and treaty signers. Highly recommend!

This book was so sad. Felt the story of someone who had sold their soul to the devil. Or an example of hurt people hurt people.

I was able to read an ARC of this. It mostly made me sad for Joy. Sad that she was so vulnerable and could be taken advantage of and couldn’t see the flashing red lights of warning in front of her. I’m not sure how else to feel.
