Sworn to the Shadow God by Ruby Dixon

I enjoyed reading this book although it did feel a bit like a repetition of the previous book. But you know what, I didn't mind it at all.
The characters are lovable, the story is swooning and by the end, we are all here for it.
There wasn't much of a world-building as in the previous book, and this was more of a slower pace storyline with a bit less action. You could read it as a standalone but it would be useful to read the previous one first.
Max is a game nerd, naive and kind, and lovable from the start.
Ragos, on the other hand, is a jerky guy at the start, the prologue was a bad start for him, but he has his story to be told and he gets his redemption.
The chemistry between Max and Ragos was a delight. It starts with a miscommunication but it is predictable so it doesn't go on your nerves reading it. If this is a trope that you hate, maybe you should skip this one. Their relationship grows slowly and it is so easy and lovely, it builds its roots and nothing can stop them. Yeah, they both have faults
but that is what it all makes fun to read.

I received a copy of eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a beautifully written ACOTAR retelling.
Now, this is something that I liked, but on the other hand, it was built up faster so it kinda missed that strong message that holds the whole ACOTAR storyline. Someone might dislike it because of it, but keep in mind, it is its own story by the end and you should read it as such.
The world-building is beautiful and maybe the strongest part of the book. The friendships are to die for and Remy and Hale are such a swooning couple. The story brings out a strong family vibe, it does flow a bit fast but in the end, they got your heart.
It reads easily and the story is empowered with diversity in a lot of fields.

I received an eARC and I would like to thank Jade for allowing me to be at the start of her journey as an author.

It did get me some time to get into reading as the writing felt a bit over-decorated, and the number of adjectives was a bit strong but the story pulls you in so I didn't mind it at the end. There was some very well-written ambiance scene, and it worked for it, but it is a bit unnecessary for the tea-making and cooking scenes.
Lana starts as a strong-minded kinda girl whose anger makes her oversee some things. She needs understanding and support and her journey starts with a crossroad of emotions. Her anger brings a different kind of problem...
Xander is just a boy that you need to keep.
Aiden... the chemistry was just off.
There is a lot of love commotion between these three :)
I'm intrigued by how the story will flow.
Ket's character is a venture to the YA and I like that part. She is presented as a protected and cared about child but in the end, she was the one protecting and caring about someone else. I believe there will be a strong character arc for her.
Overall this book has such an interesting story idea with some beautifully written parts but some parts diluted the storyline. Because of the blurb, I did predict the end, but it still intrigued me with the story's further development. It is a great start for a series and I`m looking forward to the next book.

I avoid reading book blurbs, I dive into reading the book based on recommendations, but this one I read and it got me interested. I feel as if it was a bit revealing as it describes details from the second part (almost the end) of the book and dissolves the mystery of the events that happen in the first part of the book.It did get me some time to get into reading as the writing felt a bit over-decorated, and the number of adjectives was a bit strong but the story pulls you in so I didn't mind it at the end. No matter how angry you are, how is it possible that you couldn't see that someone in your house is heavily medicated due to a serious illness. We are talking about pills on the counter, oxygen mask... The part with the mother felt rushed and unexplained well.Xander is just a boy that you need to keep.

This one was a rollercoaster.
The story is a part of a series but it is not necessary to read the previous books, but for a better understanding of the world you should.
This book was written in reverse in comparison to the previous books.
Ruby is an author who can write a perfect happy ending story and this one had a lot of happy endings from the start

I have mixed feelings about this one. I enjoyed reading it but it just was not as strong as the previous books I have read from Tessa.
The book is written as a love story between a man and a woman, except the man is divided. As if one person is split into 3 personas and their only difference is their profession. It was a bit bland. I am on insta-buy with Tessa's books and I wanted to love this one, but it wasn't quite right. It didn't feel natural and I couldn't find the connection between them, other than there is something in the air, but I don't think it is love...
Tobias is a jerk with a secret wish to just be normal but he doesn't know how so he's digging a hole every time he speaks.
Banks is a smart play guy that transforms his intelligence from the field and the team play and brings in the action.
And Gabe... he is just a pure soul, so naive but with a great heart.
Elise is just a mystery of how she is so sizable to the guys. It has to be her appearance since I don't see anything from her breathtaking character.
The most growth in a character I see in Tobias. The other ones are just taking the wave and not doing a lot for development for them as a character. I guess they did get a happy ending and did grow as a whole group but it still feels off.
When they have their first gathering as a tram fam (it's worrisome how easily it sticks to your mind) is the point that you don't care how they started this but how they will end it...
There is some mystery going on, a dose of fear not to get caught, and a need to be protected and comforted, which is the right moment for three men that you want to come by.
I have to say that Tessa is best at representing that connection between two characters and she did just that with Elise and Tobias. A man that needs a fresh start and a person who will make him feel whole again. I understand that this is her first "why chose" and if she keeps writing them, surely will get better and better, but she stays a queen in one on one dynamic between characters.
Overall, not much character development, the plot was just barely there. It touched everything a story should have but it just didn't have time to breathe and grow in an excellent novel. It started quickly. The insta love part was a down for me. But three chapters in and the first "serious" conversation between Tobias, Barns, and Gabe made me laugh so hard that I had no question whether I would enjoy this book or not. This book was not meant to be read seriously :) Just have some fun with all the weird, awkward, and funny situations.

I started reading this book because of TikTok. It was so highly recommended that I had to see for myself what the hype was all about.
Emerson and his change of behavior the moment he realized that he made a mistake was indeed a moment when I thought where we can like this guy... Emerson is a teddy bear, cute and sweet with a touch of possessiveness.
Charlie is a representation of curiosity in a human and wants to find out more as soon as the surface is scratched. Everything that was in an aspect of taboo was a new normal...
The pacing of the book is calm and steady at the beginning and then it hits you with the spice, you do see some breaks at the beginning but at one point we lose the breaks :) In the second half of the book, the question is: what was the plot all about?
I need a book to have a good plot, so that was a problem for me.

First of all, thank you Luna for the ARC and it was my honor to be amongst the first ones to read this amazing book.
I have to say, other than Twilight, I haven`t read many books about vampires. But after this one...I will.
The prologue...got me hooked right away! The mystery, the questions...
It was beautifully written and it has artwork throughout the book. Such an amazing touch and it helps the reader to make a deeper connection with the characters. This shows how much of the author's time and attention to detail went into making this book.
The first chapter of the book started shooting straight to the heart. It was so well written, and regarding the heaviness of the topic of the chapter, with just a few carefully selected words a lot was said. In some life situations, we don`t need a lot of words to understand the pain and the hurt that someone is going through. It felt like when someone looks at you and with only one look you already know what they are feeling, just like that.
The fact that it all happens in our world makes it so much easier to connect to the story. Our world infused with vampires, monsters, greek mythology, magic, and all that seasoned with just the right amount of spice :) It starts in the present time but the story goes so much deeper.
With such a nice start to the book, I was worried that some parts of the story would be forgotten in the latter chapters (as some authors tend to do) but they didn`t! :) Every detail was addressed throughout the whole story. Every part from beginning to end was woven beautifully.
Cass and Damien ... love can last forever! That is all I will say :) Love them!
As for the side characters I wish we had a bit deeper background story for them, I kinda missed them at some parts of the book, but in the end they pulled through :)
Looking forward for book #2!

Forgotten Embers by J.A. Good

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This started as a 5-star read and to the 60% mark, I was enjoying it! Like really, really enjoying it. It dropped its star rating to 3.5 (rounded to 4) for the rushed plot at the end and 2 tropes that I don't like. That was not handled quite well, so it didn't bring its part to the story, it only made you cringe.
But that aside, this author is just starting, and for the first book, this was so worth reading and the next books in the series could be even better.
The writing is great, and it shows such good pacing at the start of the story, the sweet and heartwarming parts were gentle and smooth, and soon as we are transferred to the fast-paced scenes the writing goes sharp and firmly adapts to the atmosphere. I liked how the chapters ended, with a powerful statement for each one. The dialog is so fluent and easy to read, hearth worming and gets you closer to the characters, I loved it...A promising start! Unfortunately, the pace of the story in the other half of the book got rushed and it needed a bit of stretch to breathe, and to give time to relate with the characters and their troubles.
I love that the whole story was written from Wren's perspective, that is how the mystery is kept, and that made the story a lot more interesting.
The world-building is a bit underwhelmed, I needed a lot more about the magic system, about politics but I anticipate that this is something that we will learn more about with the next books in the series...
In the beginning, Wrens' character is standing by her grounds and doesn't fall into the arms of the mysterious villain in her story from the start. At some point, she excepts her new reality and it is written in such a good way, gradually, so it makes it believable and gives you time and opportunity to understand her pov and with that find logic in all of her decisions. Through the first part of the story she stays independent and strong, the other half we get to see the naive and childish Wren.
Malaki and his hidden emotions...only intelligent characters can play the game of surviving on the court and he plays it well, as Wren is about to find out as he captures her heart. He may not be the one that will court you but he will certainly be the one that will make your mind dizzy.
The beautiful writing embedded the connection between Wren and Malaki and it is as if you are reading a love story written by Jane Austen herself. At first, the plot develops slowly and I love that you have time to learn about every character and understand their motives, the author did an amazing job with this one in the first part of the book, then, the rush came in, and kinda ruined the character development and change its course. It had a different kind of energy as if for the last part of the story the writing time was short and the book needed to end. Some of the side characters were forgotten by the end and new ones were fastly introduced.
Sophie's character was too good to be true. I'm looking forward to knowing more about her character's past.
Richards's character was a bit weird. He started at one point but completely turned around with not much of a good reason for that.
The ending was a bit disappointing, it seems that Wren slept through all the action, It was all talk... We don't get to see the action and a lot of questions were left unanswered. It did end as a cliffhanger but in a way that opens a space for the new chapters of the next book, a new part of their story, and I'm looking forward to reading it!.
