This series is so good! I can't believe I haven't read or heard about it before. Great world building, excellent storytelling, and well-paced between the 5 books. Vhalla is well developed and I loved seeing her growth. The ultimate threat is worthy of his title and I actually felt the hopelessness of the situation. The beasts were terrifying and expertly described - Daniel's break, the tales of the castle, and the walking crystal zombies are enough to send a shiver down your spine. Uprooted vibes. And of course, the love story of Aldrik and Vhalla gives me so much joy.

Perhaps I'd have rated this higher had I not recently finished the Zodiac Academy series, which is new adult and full of interesting world-building and a wealth of character development. Maybe this is a sign I'm done with YA fantasy? Will continue reading the series so I can get a more accurate and informed opinion.

Not very intriguing characters. Didn't care for the threesome dynamic. Love Embry though.

A nice, wrapped-up in a bow, fantasy novel. I liked the fact that it was a standalone. The dynamic between the king and Alessandra was great.

Maybe if I hadn't read this immediately after The Spanish Love Deception, I would have rated this higher. It was cute and full of miscommunicated romance, which I am a sucker for.

5! Stars! The Spanish Love Deception took all of my favorite romance tropes and took the freaking crown. Bed sharing? Yes. Fake dating to impress the fam/an ex? Yep. "The shirts are messed up for our soccer match so boys will play with their shirts off"? Um, hell yes. It's an enemies to lovers that is true even for readers. I did NOT like Aaron at the beginning, same as Lina. But Armas does a fantastic job with the unreliable narrator. I loved all of the characters and the book from page 1 to the conclusion. This is now one of my favorite books and a comfort read.

These Hollow Vows is the first in a greatly underrated fantasy novel series. I liked the dynamic between all characters and the plot had enough twists and turns to not fully be driven by the characters. In terms of a strong female protagonist, Brie is brave and angsty. However, she's deemed beautiful by everyone who meets her and the men in the novel seem to fall in love with her left and right, which is a bit mary-suish.

I'm quickly realizing that Persephone/Hades romances are not my thing.
