I am SO glad that this was a bookclub pick or who knows if or when I'd read it. This was pure perfection from start to finish. And the plot twist, um...HELLO! I'm not sure I could have read the last 60 pages faster! The best part of reading this book now is that the series has 2 additional books I can throw myself into and binge so I don't have to leave the world quite yet! You need to read this right now. Those of you in the back, did you hear me? YOU NEED TO READ THIS RIGHT NOW!!!
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC of The Ravenswood Witch.
This book is very well written! I will definitely be looking into other books by this author. The concept of the story was super interesting and right up my alley. The world building and character discovery in the beginning was well laid out and got me excited for what I was about to read.
However, the story started to nose dive for a long time. Some of the scenes were good but there was a lot of "fluff" and stuff that could have been left out. The book was 293 pages and it wasn't until page 261 that the "who done it" part came to light. That left the most exciting part of the story super rushed along with the wrap up. And at that point I had trudged thru so much that the ending kinda fell flat and I was left saying "oh, ok".
Overall, it was a quick read with compelling characters and a great atmosphere. This is more of a palate cleanser of a book if you need one but not one to rush to the top of your TBR.

wow...wow...WOW! I am now a Riley Sager fan girl!
Twist after twist after twist after twist! I was able to predict 2 things fairly easily but it honestly didn't matter at all because everything around it was a twist also. From the first page to the last page it was nothing but a rollercoaster ride and now I'm the little kid screaming "AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN!"

Thank you St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!
I have heard so many amazing things about Weyward (which I still need to read) so when I was given the opportunity to read this story I jumped at it!
This story has elements from a few of my favorite genres, historical fiction, mystery, magical realism and it made this such a stunning story. This book was incredibly well written with the dual timeline flowing so well, nothing was jumpy or unbalanced. It did start out a little slow for me, but when it picked up I binge read it to the end!

Fairytale retellings are some of my favorite stories to read, so any opportunity to get my hands on one I will take!
I love when an author can make me have a strong feeling other than indifference to a character that was otherwise classified as a "necessary supporting character". Either to love them or hate them and Laura Mayo did just that!
The beginning of the book was a little weak for me. It was essentially a quick crash course on the end of Cinderella and I felt so much more could have been done given how the author unfolded everything perfectly after. But once the fairy godmother showed up it was like a whole new story!
The characters were interesting, the places were exactly what you'd imagine in a land of magical creatures and it kept me not wanting to put the book down.
Who knew there would be a twist!? I didn't expect any twist at all let alone several! I thought it would be a fun straight forward story, but boy was I wrong and wasn't mad about it!
Most of the time I won't buy a book after reading it as an ARC unless it's a 5 star for me but this one will be an exception and I hope they give us a STUNNING sprayed edges edition! I hope I get the chance to read the ARC of the next book in the series because I already can't wait to see what's going to happen next!

I am OBSESSED with this series! Not a single dull moment in the story and the characters keep surprising me. Anyone else swooning for Death!? These books are giving a very gothic Bridgerton vibe and I am here for it. Move this series to the top of your TBR right now!
I have no words and yet too many words for this book. I still have tears on my cheeks, what the heck is going on! This was by far the best book of the series and they were all three so freaking good!
The extra little twist at the end was WILD! I thought it would be a straight forward wrapping up of everything and seeing how things flowed that we knew would happen but them BAM!
Give me a spin off duology or series with snippets of these characters showing up for cameos PLEASE!
I will be moving every book this author has ever written toward the top of my TBR, for she is fucking brilliant!

This book was one wild ride. If you are a reader that has triggers, stay away from this book. This book has every single trigger imaginable and you wouldn't know it from the description given.
The writing was excellent, the pacing was great for most of the book and the characters definitely had growth that was well done. But I don't think I would recommend this book to anyone. I spent the entirety of the book saying "wait, wtf"..."wtf is happening"..."WTF!" and not in a good or bad way just in a WTF way.

... there is no definite ending... am I just suppose to assume!? Cuz we know that's never a good thing.
...I need to sit on this before finishing the review...

The story was super quirky and unique. When lettered tiles drop off an old monument in the town square, the governing body interprets it is a supernatural sign that each letter should be removed from all spoken and written language.
This was a perfect, quick palate cleansing book! I've had it sitting on my shelf for about 15yrs so it was time.
