took me a long time to get through this one too

the first half was a bit slow, but once the main event happened, it was all uphill from there and i was eating it up. kinda had me in tears at the end tbh.

the prose is beautiful. I really enjoy Dona Tartt's writing style. Everything was drawn out and beautiful.

TOOK ME THREE FREAKING MONTHS TO FINISH IT

idk, it's fun to revisit a book/series that had such a chokehold on me in middle school. I'm not sure why hahah. God, i was so disappointed with the move adaptation. Jamie Campbell Bower was so not my image of Jace. #NotMyJaceWayland

anyway, i already invested in city of ashes, so i guess i'll slowly work through the rest of the books so i have a more up to date opinion on the series. I wouldn't read this again, cause as I've said before, I'm sick of YA writing and teenage girls who can see ghosts/demons and shit, but it's been fun.

This was my first audiobook and I think that really had an impact on my reading experience. I’m not very good at listening or hearing lol. But I also just felt very disconnected from the material. I think maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I was reading it on a page. The upside of audiobooks is that they’re super convenient. The downside is that as a person who struggles to focus sometimes, I often found myself lost and confused and just pushing through because I found it too annoying/difficult to rewind. I just accepted getting the gist of it.

Anyway, it was alright haha

this was a context read as I am currently in the stage version of this book. I happened to find the copy of the book at savers days before the initial audition, what are the odds? I thought it would be interesting to see how the book differs from the stage show and a lot of the dialogue is ripped right from the book on put in the script, but there are some other changes

also, this was my first legit adult murder mystery read! I had never read any Agatha Christie before... she's uh.... she put some uh... not so good language in there... like i think we all know what i'm talking about .... that lady kinda racist ...

anyway, yeah it was okay haha

would i read it again? if i get cast hehe

context read for Christmas at Pemberly auditions at a local theater tomorrow (8/20)!

also interesting to read as a P&P fan. there are some fun things. however, i feel that the language is kinda inconsistent? like it's clearly written to be a tad more approachable than the source material, but at times it's a little too modern.

i'm happy for Mary though. I'm glad she gets to be a little more fleshed out, like she deserves to be recognized

this is kristine from 8/22 - i got cast as the understudy for lizzy hehe

I’m actually so gooped. This was another book fair book from my childhood and it was so fun to revisit it. I remember loving it the first time I read it all those years ago and there’s still certainly a lot I love about it.

I’ve already stated several times how I have a strong disdain for young adult writing haha but sometimes I do like how simple it is.

Some of this was actually so spooky scary. We love lore, we love a good crazy backstory, we love drama, we love ghosts

rip einstein 😔

I feel so sad at the end of this

It’s so beautifully written and the imagery is so vivid. I feel for Chiyo with my whole heart.
