This book was weird because half of the development happened in the previous book as the B plot. And I didn’t pay attention (because it was the B plot) so it was weird to start this book and the relationship was already developed. I was busy paying attention to the actual plot of the previous book! Like half of it already happened behind scenes. Plus story-wise, there wasn’t anything there. Like why? Why not date? This is friends to lovers, there has to be a distinct reason why they don’t engage in a relationship. And it just felt like a shadow of a reason.

Also, I’m not a music person. And I’m not really in tune with sea shanties so I truly didn’t understand the emotional weight of that. But maybe that’s just me.

I don’t know why I read CoHo as much as I do. Her shit is sad. This was supposed to be a hobby of escapism. I don’t care to mourn some dumb slutty white dad who lived his life as a whore. That being said, I read this pretty quickly. There are a lot of unanswered questions and while I understand the people are like “wah this is my growth and this is grieving” but, bitch, I want to know. I’m not mourning the dumb slutty dad. Tell me! What was in the letters? Who’s baby is that? Also, the daughter is so mean to the mom. And the mom is so dumb. I’m so sick of the trope of “protecting loved ones” while not telling them stuff. Like ignorance doesn’t benefit anyone. Also, the love interests were just bleh. Truly nothing is there. Skin vessels to say the most. I didn’t care for them or their success.  Whatever, this book did not do much for me.

I really loved this book. It's so me. I too get anxious and ruin everybody's life because of it. It's so relatable. How she freaks out and everyone's upset and then they have a conversation about it. Then they are fine. If there's anything reflective of my own relationships, it's that.

I loved, LOVED, the communication. There's a problem? Just talk it out. So easy! The problems that held back the relationship made sense you know.

I desperately needed a cleanse from the last book I read. Something wholesome usually does the trick and this most definitely did. It prevented me from falling into a slump which I am thankful for. This is the only hobby that hasn't ruined my life. I would like to keep it that way. The book was so friggin cute and paced well (there was a lot thrown at the end but I'm choosing to ignore it cause it was so cute). I'm not a fan of slow burns. But this maintained enough momentum to keep my dumbass invested. I don't have a lot of patience. Most slow burns I get bored of it. NOT THIS ONE!

I will say there is nothing groundbreaking about this book. But I enjoyed it and that's what matters.

Did not finish book.
What in the fresh hell is this? I couldn’t even finish it. I thought it would be funny but my god.

I won't comment on the sexual and violent content this book has. Though I deem it excessive, it may be someone's cup of tea. But dear god, this book was not in any shape or form meant for me.

FIRST OF ALL, these people have no sense of boundaries. I don’t care what you do in the comfort of your own home. But these people are sharing this woman that they KIDNAPPED and they are all so freaking obsessed with her because…she’s not like other girls (shocking, I know). She’s not like other girls because she’s dumb by the way. But she just screws this band of brothers and they are like “yeah, cool”.

Also, the pacing of this is so erratic. And by focusing on so many character POVs at once, you lose track, and shit gets blown up. There’s one character (I don’t even care if I’m spoiling it; it’s a bad book, you shouldn’t be reading it anyway) who spends the whole beginning part of the book hating her and how much he is attracted to her (classic) and then suddenly out of the blue, he’s like “I’ve fallen in love with her.” Why?! There’s no development. Just a bunch of dummies simping around for a woman (violently I might add) and killing randos in the process.

But it wasn’t the violence, the plot, the characters but the writing that got me to stop reading. I don’t like not finishing books. But with this writing, I had to. Here are some of my favorites, if you will…

ALSO, it occurred to me halfway through that these people are British. And it made it so much funnier. Just imagine all these but sounding like the Peaky Blinders lol.

“‘I think I’m in love. Do you think she would shoot me if I ask?’”

“The colour of her hair is the shade of ice…the colour of my soul.”

“I snarl as I rip off my shirt and storm to my bag, throwing some punches and getting all my aggression out. ”

“So I do the only thing a girl faced with losing a slice of cheesy heaven can do. I grab my fork and stab it into his hand.”

“It’s like one of those thirst trap images you see online that makes you go ‘dayummm.”

“‘You dare insult our princess?’”

“silky ass”

“‘How dare he? She’s mine!’”

And my personal favorite: “The sound of my mum’s screams with her moan which I swallow.”

I really love the rich man/poor woman trope. I would like to model that into my own life. Unfortunately, I got a whole friends-to-lovers sitch happening and it SUCKS compared to this.

Now, Rowan Kane. A sexy Walt Disney. A sexier Walt Disney I should say. He’s great if not the dumbest man in the world. Like he is so hilariously stupid. How does he not know that people do not have money? Like he’s intelligent enough to be CFO of a multibillionaire dollar industry but not that poor people exist. That too…IN FLORIDA?!

That being said, he realizes his mistake, acknowledges his trauma, and is allegedly the size of an NBA player. And rich. So stupidly rich. Nothing is as satisfying as men with mad money groveling for a woman. Men are weak. Especially when it comes to the quirky girl. They are not like other girls after all. In all fairness, she’s bubbly but not to the point where it’s annoying. That’s a win. GOOD STUFF! More rich men!

This was different! Good stuff. I did feel it was a bit rushed towards the end but the self-destruction and smut made up for it.

It was nice to take a break from Feyre. Don't get me wrong. I like the character but she's too perfect. Nesta is a bitch. And it's awesome. Is she too much of one? Maybbeeee. But I like that Maas is expanding the world she created rather than ramming the same protagonists to the ground.

Also, a baby with little wings is funny. I just picture a baby's limp body flying around everywhere and it makes me giggle.

Also, what does "the stars winking out in his eyes" mean?! Even within context, it makes no sense! There are so many stars in their eyes. Good stuff. Maas has all my money.

I didn't understand the point of this book. It felt gratuitous at best as if fans kept pestering Maas and she just whipped this baby out and said "here, please leave me alone". Perhaps, it's meant to be a buffer. The calm after and before the storm. Who knows?! I'm too invested in the series to care.

Feyre keeps talking about how much money she has as if it’s an inconvenience and that’s hilarious.

If there is one topic I take so ever seriously it’s the porn industry. In fact, that’s my go-to ice breaker in any situation. First encounters, dinner parties, funerals - you name it. The amount of time I’ve brought up the ethics of the porn industry and what they had done to my baby girl, Mia Khalifa, is innumerable. So I like that the story focused on that - the flaws of the industry and what it could be.

As for the love story, oof I get it. It was a slow burn but not that slow where I would get bored. I like the mans. I like how…aware he was. Good mans. The story is cute and it made sense. Thank god. Good stuff!

The second I started this book when we see that he is a hotshot football player, I knew. I KNEW. There would be a public declaration of love at the Super Bowl. And I did not like that. We as a society need to rid the world of public love declarations. They are cringe and unnecessary. Keep your nastiness behind closed doors, please.

Also, the author kept referencing the reader? It was odd. Like “when did I fall in love with my best friend you ask?” Like who are you talking to?

Other than that, it was sweet. Albeit a bit cringe. Bree really is “not like other girls” and mad “quirky”. I found it interesting how the author decided to make anxiety such a large focus of this book but rarely talked about it. Like it was always on the back burner and then when it blew up, it’s like “oh, we’re there?” Essentially the characters could’ve been fleshed out. And less cringe. Definitely getting Netflix rom-com vibes but less “Set It Up”, more so “Kissing Booth”. But you know what? I still finished it so it wasn’t that bad.

First of all, this book was 700 pages long. Which is absolutely unacceptable. I can’t even sit to watch a 2-hour film (1 1/2 is my max Bollywood and Marvel excluded).

But the unfortunate part is, I’m hella invested. Did I like this more than its predecessor? No. Did I read all 700 pages and will continue to read the series. You bet your ass I will. It’s what Rhys deserves. Don’t look at me like that.
