That’s how this book ends?!!
What!

What started out as a cute, fun, feel good smily read, turned into me not being able to read it fast enough. I did get a tad confused and lost in some of the middle but it didn’t feel significant enough to miss so I kept going.  By the end, I was fully invested. And the cliffhanger?! Ma’am. Rude.

Twists I did NOT see coming.  Bachelor style dating using cruel games and deadly trials, sprinkle in magic, deceit, love triangles, betrayals, some mystery, and a huge plot twist at the end?!
Very well done.

This is 4.25 stars for me.

Love the world building, Rory, Callum, and I’m oddly intrigued. The slow burn was so good, then yearning, twists, political scheming, oh and werewolves. But not too much shifting that it makes it hard to stick with.  I’ll immediately be starting The Night Prince.

I loved this story!
I picked this up at a local bookstore honestly because it was pretty. I glimpsed the blurb on the back, then went and looked up reviews on the apps- because that’s what we do. I saw a small number of reviews but good ratings so gave it a shot. I’m new to the indie author world because I normally go off of recommendations, and a lot from social media.
HOLY COW I AM SO GLAD I READ THIS BOOK!!!

I loved the characters!
Without giving away any possible spoilers, I’m sure this will be confusing.
The coven, the new found worlds, the new found family, the side characters, the friendships, the interesting magic, the trauma, the growth, the betrayal. This FMC was not a whiny helpless thing complaining of all that had been done to her, no. She wanted answers and solutions, and to be a PART of the solution. And our MMC?! We love a shadow daddy, broody, possessive but also reluctant man. Friends who see you, and not your flaws, but love you for all you good and bad regardless, friends that believe in the good?! Oooof.
Then the freaking BETRAYALS and twists and turns?!

I finished this book and felt ANNOYED.
Annoyed because whaaaaat?! I didn’t see it coming.  I don’t understand why the villain did that or how this is being twisted. And I’m not annoyed at the author, let’s me clear, I’m annoyed because I loved this story and that was a heck of a well done cliffhanger and I have no idea how book 2 will go but I know I’ll love it and I need it like right now.

The last 30% of the book is when I was finally hooked and interested.

I struggle to stay engaged in this book, and I don’t think it’s the story’s fault entirely. I think it was coming off of an incredible 5 star read, paired with a little confusion about the different parts of the stories and omens. By the last 6 chapters I couldn’t get enough. Again, it might entirely be that my head wasn’t as focused on the story as it deserved, but it just didn’t quite capture me like The Shepard King series did. But the ending? I will definitely be buying book 2 on release day.
I may reread this one day to give it another, fresh try.

“He doesn’t shy away from my darkness. He walks towards it and kneels with me in the blood we’ve spilled.“ 🖤

Fear The Flames by @itslivdarling

A true romantasy.
This year is killing it with romantasy books for me!

Lost princess, grumpy commander, heists, dragon bonds, political scheming, betrayals, banter, spice, ooooof.

Cayden made me blush!
I’m a plot over spice girlie and this was givingggg. Oh, the spice with this was perfection and raised the bar for spice for me.

The world building and plot was phenomenal. It’s giving TOG and GOT vibes and I am HERE for it.
Lost Princess who is not helpless, she’s a badass.

I am so glad I finally got my hands on this book, and even more thrilled that the next one comes out a month from today! Thank youuuu Olivia!

I have NOT seen enough hype for this book on social media, it is so deserved.

The Silversmith by LJ Claren
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my first ever ARC, and I’ll never forget this book.
This is hands down my highest, favorite read of 2025!

I read to escape, and this story had me in a chokehold and drug me into the heart of Nyridia.
This book had me holding my breath, grasping at my chest in the most dramatic way, kicking my feet and squealing at the banger, gasping at the plot twists and every feeling in between!

LJ has an almost poetic way of writing that paints pictures perfectly. Imagery that captures makes time stand still, or brings characters and creatures to life in a way my brain could never create on its own.

Smyth? 😮‍💨
That man has me weak.
Morally grey, protective, broody, encouraging, strong. Etc.

Found family. Slow burn. Forced proximity. Hidden identity. Touch her and die.
All the goods.

If The Silversmith isn’t already on your TBR, add it!
Mark your calendars for July 13th!
