I’m not sure why I remembered this one the way I did because it was wonderful and amazing on the reread. Maybe because I skipped Crooked Kingdom last time, idk….. but I loved this one and can’t wait to finally read Rule of Wolves!!!

“Will it always be chaos for us, Elias?”

“Curse this world for what it does to mothers, for what it does to daughters. Curse it for making us strong through loss and pain, our hearts torn from our chests again and again. Curse it for forcing us to endure.”

Wow this one was fantastic. The Battle of Antium something like out of Game of Thrones… and it all hurt…. I love how convoluted histories are in this one, like the jinn and Nightbringer: how the truth is necessary but painful. It’s not black and white and nothing is easy. Learning Keris’ history next book is gonna be so important. I love how this one was also so much of “becoming”: Helene finally to the complete role of Blood Shrike, Elias to the Soul Catcher, and Laia learning her role and her strengths and beliefs. No one is so easily broken but damn they all go through so much I wanna give them a hug.
Also fuck having to read the live version of the burning the “Library of Alexandria” ugh that hurt like a bitch UGH man never over that lolol my little ancient studies heart dies every time i think about it.
Anyways I loved this one!!

“I awoke in the glow of a young world. When man knew of hunting but not tilling. Of stine but not steel. It smelled of rain and earth and life. It smelled of hope… All went still. For the Beloved who woke with the dawning of the world was no more. For a single anguish moment, the earth itself mourned him.” the Tale!!!!

“Where there is life, there is hope.”

Man I loved this series it was so wonderful and beautiful.

Her tagging Would That I by Hozier at the end…. yeah.

wow i’m sold, this was fun!

i definitely have some complaints about her writing—like how she kinda just drops plot points in and doesn’t show how the character develops their plans… and every decision the team makes seems like they decided it beforehand in some nonexistant time they never have and it makes it like the reader is out of the loop and it’s not that fun (i cant explain it well enough but it just seems like bad writing imo she did it in crescent city too).

but i thought she did a really good job developing feyre and her depression arc and the build of her and rhys’ relationship—it was a slowburn huge book that honestly makes sense (unlike crescent city lol).

definitely rereadable and better than acotar!!
