Book Name: Nafis and the Colourful Hallway
Author: Alessandro Niccoli
Illustrator: Sara Panicci
Genre: Fiction, Philosophy
This is a kind of book; the reader must take their time to read to take its full essence.
About the book:
This is the story of 13 years old boy Nafis an intelligent, emotive, and old-fashioned soul who is curious to discover the truly colorful, happy, and peaceful world. He is unaware of his inner ability. One day he met with his inner silence and befriend with it, it takes him on a colorful and vibrant world. he encounters different beautiful colors of nature. A world is full of self-preservation which is getting destroyed by modern technological advancement.
My musings:
The concept of a world from a 13-years old is interesting, as they are the makers of the coming world. The language is simple and easy, you will feel the book is whispering to you. The book has lessons, the soul yearning to grow and understand the depths of life.
Overall, this is a philosophical read with a message in between the lines, and will recommend reading it at a slow pace to reinforce the message.

“Fear is the man source of superstition and one of the main sources of cruelty.” – Bertrand Russell
#qotd: If you see a cat crossing your path what it signifies?
#aotd: It signifies that the cat is going somewhere, it has nothing to do with your bad, good, or any luck.
“The Godmen” by “Luke Johnson” is a book that revolves around Godmen who are torturing and looting the people in the name of superstitions. This book reveals the bizarre yet real practices which are performed for exorcism, possessions, and so on.
I find the tone of the book is sarcastic, as a simple man is challenging science and medicine by curing people just by making them vomit. We live in a modern society, but our fear makes us believe in such things and we fall into the trap of such kinds of people. The author mentions one such person in this book and his torturing activities.
This book is indeed an interesting and thought-provoking read.

Perfectly imperfect by Prabhu Subramanian is the kind of book which will take you to the memory lane of school days.
This book chronicles the story of a 17-year boy Rohit who resides in Delhi and belongs to an elite south Indian Brahmin family. Like the title suggest his character is “Perfectly imperfect, as he is an aspirant of 12 board examinations, but he is so careless for his future deciding examination (Sarcastically says). He started bunking school and grow bad habits like gambling and smoking. One day his parents find out about his wrong actions, and then came the turning point in his life. what is it? is he be able to pass the board exams?
The story is simple and realistic as it portrays how a teen faces the pressure to be perfect in society, how they get overburdened by others’ expectations. Though Rohit did many wrongdoings when he started to take responsibility for his action he got bullied by his classmates and teachers. I love the way the author beautifully describes the father and son relationship.
Overall, this is a short and simple read which will give you nostalgic moments.

“Zikr: an anthology of poetic Incantations” by Husna is a collection of poems that will take you on the spiritual journey with elegancy.
I am a big-time lover of “Rumi’s” books. And can’t deny that “Zikr” give me a kind of peace, which I find when I ready “Rumi”. The meaning of “Zikr” in Urdu is a remembrance of Allah or manifestation of divine power. The theme of the poems is revolved around God, humanity, love, loss, heartache, and spirituality.
For all those who love reading poetry, this collection is good to pick as it takes the diverse emotions experienced while living. When I read these poems, I feel like each verse holds a soul and connecting with me. All poems have something to convey to us, but I found this verse very insightful:
“When you speak of loss,
Of defeat and despair,
Of a moment that is yet to arrive;
In your mind
it has already manifested.
It is only a matter of time
before the time wrap:
between word and action,
This Zaman
is materialized."
This is a kind of read readers want to read them again and again, to get a different layer of meaning each time they read, opening eyes to the world and filling them with a sense of spirituality.
