Born Survivors by Wendy Holden

I am deeply moved by the stories of these 3 women. It is hard to imagine the reality of the horrors that they experienced, let alone how each uniquely survived to bring her child into the world. Their humanity triumphed in history's darkest chapter.
The content is powerful; I could hardly put the book down because I needed to know what happened next. The author dedicated so much time to the historical research for this work and provided context. However, the book is not well-written in terms of style. I understand why the author wrote in the format that she did, but it came across as disjointed, even when she interrupted the women's stories to dedicate pages at a time to the historical context. Also, I think she needlessly repeated details from each woman's testimonies throughout, and it read like filler. Despite these critiques, I still recommend this book as a unique perspective on the history of the Holocaust.
