So many questions, mainly about who the fuck fantasy writers think they are with these names. You get ONE weird name, that’s it.

Sets up the series wonderfully, leaving you ponder and grapple with your own thoughts and theories. It’s also a YA book and I’m 27 so not the target audience. But maybe that speaks more about me because I shouldn’t have this many questions and I should have figured it out? It’s like fantasy/ murder mystery.

The third book continues to bring more depth and emotion to Diem and Luther, both as individuals and as a couple. Every time Luther speaks about Diem, it makes me want to melt. I've never highlighted more quotes than I did in this book. The slow burn pacing of this series finally gets satisfied, thank the gods!

The pace picks back up, full of highs and lows, drama, action, and heartbreak. You can't help but start to admire and fall in love with Diem and her new court. I wish Teller and Lilly had more appearances in this book, I was enjoying their side love story.

That ending is brutal. I refuse to forgive her mother and she doesn't deserve a redemption arc. I won't recover emotionally until book 4 comes out.

*The way I feel about this book is not the way I feel about the series as a whole. I have hope.

I am a quick reader and it usually doesn’t take much to get me hooked. I had to PUSH through this book. I found myself bored and uninterested. I disliked the POV switching because it all felt pointless. As soon as a POV got interesting or exciting it switched.

Outside of Celaena figuring her shit out nothing truly exciting happened. I was hoping to learn about wyrdmarks and Dorian’s magic. I did enjoy the friendship she formed with Rowan and am excited to see that continue to develop.

I was rooting for Chaol. I found him to be annoying, a lowkey pathetic for not growing some balls and picking a side. He’s loyal past a fault and again got people killed. As much as I liked Manon, her side plot confused me the most. Dorian's character again fell flat. Without his magic ability his character is useless.

Unless it gets worse I won’t DNF this series. I had to survive all these new character introductions and I need to see where that leads.
