I will never not cry when reading a Backman novel, and I'm ok with that

3.75 - I really enjoyed this book. However, I didn't really understand the premise behind it (if there even was an intended premise). If Hemingway intended it to be a story about a man, his drunk friends, and their outlandish escapades, he succeeded. And I did enjoy it for what it was. The description of the bullfights was captivating, and it held my attention. However, if there was supposed to be a deeper moral meaning, I one thousand percent did not catch it at all. All in all, I need to read more of Hemingway because I really do love him.

I really enjoyed this collection. Some of the poems went over my head, but others really resonated with me. I find Emily Dickinson fascinating and would love to delve into more of her work.

A pretty unique and powerful story. The ending conflict that occurs in the last 100 pages was pretty intriguing and I actually understood what was happening. Definitely might re-read in the future to gain a deeper understanding of it

A very short, sweet read. probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read it when I was a little younger.

2 - I hyped this book up SO MUCH because of Gilmore Girls. In all honesty, if I didn't have such high expectations for it, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. The story is interesting to an extent, but I just didn't feel remorse for any of the characters in the book, and the general premise was slightly repetitive. Every time I opened the book, there was no sense of urgency to finish it, and that made reading it more of a chore than something I liked doing. Despite ALL this, I would like to try Jack Kerouac again and see if I go into one of his books 'cold' I might enjoy it more.
