Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I enjoyed this book a lot. I read it the baroness way - not start to finish. I enjoyed that it was a mix of romance and history and something mystical. Forgotten in time. And I loved that there was ugliness to it; shameful almost. How trying to right a wrong can take so many forms.

It was mostly a fun read. I love the history and art history. I loved the twists and turns. I can’t get past the ending though. The last few pages were unnecessary and the yoga comment. It wasn’t surprising to me that he threw that in there. Made me knock it down a little.
I really liked this book. The story was great. I like the nuances between the 2 main characters. How life was different for both of them. I thought the writing itself was a little over-dramatic. But overall a good read. Just a note: I tried to watch the show after and thought it was terrible. Book is far, far better.
Definitely one of my favorites from Tana French. It starts off slow but once it gets going…..damn! It’s always a roller coaster with her main characters. Do I love them? Hate them? Constantly changing.
I learned a lot from this book and found it to be very emotional and heavy (emotionally) at times. I cried many times while reading. Beautifully written. I found myself wanting to learn more about subjects the author touched on and also more about the family history. It was very interesting. She does an excellent job of making you feel you are right there in the scenes she describes.
