I only give it a four because I WANTED more of Elspeth & Ravyn. I do love slow burns and books where you are feeling the same anticipation as the characters. I felt that here but I just wanted more moments for them. Otherwise, I loved the world vibes & the magic! It was so completely unique to anything I’ve read before.

I loved the family tree lore and the fierce love story. Raeve & Slatra have my heart just as much as Raeve & Kaan. I will say the only thing I didn’t feel was necessary was Veya’s POV when it came to getting Raeve’s diary. By the time Veya discovered where the diary was and the secret that Kyrazi is Kaan’s & Raeve’s daughter, I had already put that together. I would have loved more POVs from Kaan & Kyrazi, but I imagine we’ll get more of that in the next book. Can’t wait!!
