Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
Left positive feedback on NetGalley for this title, but it was not for me.

This was the third book I’ve read by the author, and I liked it more than the other two (The Inmate & The Gift), but I almost dropped it around 50%. The only character that is anywhere remotely close to being likable is Addie, because she is a child, and it’s not her fault that the adults in her life failed her miserably. I absolutely hated how Eve treated her and even put blame on her at first for what happened. The final twist didn’t make much sense to me either. If “Jay” is who we are to believe he is, then how did Eve never recognize him… and why is there never an introspective moment to highlight the fact that she is honestly no better than her husband since both were having extramarital affairs with minors? …yeeeah, so this one got me riled up, but I finished reading it in a day and look forward to the author’s other works.

Thank you to NetGalley, Freida McFadden and publishers for the ARC.

A spellbinding tale of human, fae, and elves, of sisterhood, of lovers, and the fates that connect them all. I especially enjoyed the world building and learning about the culture of the fae presented in this book, and I can’t wait to learn more as the series progresses. Pretty solid queer representation, featuring a nice enemies-to-lovers, sapphic romance, we love to see it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC!
