I feel it kind of lagged toward the middle, and came to an abrupt ‘happy’ ending. Starting this book, I admired the way it tackles how through motherhood one can slowly lose their sense of self by having her transform into an animal. The anxiety, fear, and resentment around that. However I feel as the book went on… it seemed there were problems executing this metaphor? She grappled with whether this was metaphor or reality until the very end, which just felt out of place. It’s ‘resolved’ but nothing has really changed? Why had she had to go through so much grief if the solution was apparently so feasible? She journeyed from reality, to metaphor, back to reality explaining the metaphor in literal terms.

Idk I feel like I ‘got it’ it feels like it just got muddied along the way to where now I wonder: did I enjoy it? Did it say what I think it was trying to say? 🤷‍♀️ maybe I will re-read this again in the future
