This was a great sequel. I really liked that the author brings up the impact that solving the first case had on Pips life. That she struggles with guilt, etc. I enjoyed the pacing, though I think that the final reveal was a little sudden. I wish that there was more interaction and description between Pip, Charlie, and Stanley throughout the book.
I enjoyed seeing this historical fantasy come to life. Abitha was a little naive to start, but her growth throughout the book seemed believable for the most part. I really liked Slewfoots progression from God to Devil as well.
I think this book is overall entertaining with some very funny inner thoughts from the characters. I was a little lost at times though with all the different plot lines happening. I wish the author focused on introducing just a few new things every book and really diving deep to explore them.
I tried to read this book for a merit badge challenge I am a part of... And I hated it. What pages I got through were boring and mostly skipped through. The book is very repetitive. I think I am NOT a self-help book type of person.
I could not get into this book right now. I made it to 41% of the way through and I felt like both of the main characters had nothing about them that I liked or wanted to cheer for.
The romance in this book was excellent! I really enjoyed the banter throughout the book and the the strengths and weaknesses of both main characters was explored during the same trials.
I found this book to be an interesting look into what a future could look like if humans had infinite life spans. I wish there was a little more political intrigue, but I'm hoping it will be in the next book now that their apprenticeship is done.
