reminds me of Ready or Not, The Hunt, and Escape Room. This belongs in the same genre as those movies. So if you like any of those movies, read this.

not what I expected in a good way! This is a beautiful dark fantasy love story about to folkloric creatures. The Plague Doctor and the Mermaid remind me of Red and Blue from This is How You Lose The Time War. Like very complex characters and writing but a love story at its heart. But there needs to be a trigger warning for body horror and mutilation because that cult thing was visceral like Midsommar visceral.

Looking forward to reading more of Khaws work, new automatic buy alert!!🚨

Do not compare this to the hunger games. It’s not like it at all. Let this book exist as it’s own because it is incredible being what it is.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 31%.
The romance was the center of the book for too long. There were no plot developments. The execution was poor

People need to read more of Veronica Roth’s adult fiction. Her writing  is sooooo good!

DNF’d at 72%. There’s no plot driving this story. It’s just random shit or subpar worldbuilding attempts. If you’ve never read a fantasy book before than this is the perfect book for you. If you are a fantasy fan, avoid this book
