Because She Loves Me by Mark Edwards

Totally didn't see that ending! Well paced, nice level of tension and a handful of characters who were perfectly set up to be the villain.
Forward Slash by Louise Voss, Mark Edwards

I did find Forward Slash compelling and chilling but the subject matter made me feel a bit too uncomfortable at points. I love this writing team though and cannot wait to read their others!
Look Behind You by Sibel Hodge

Epicccc! Loved not knowing whether to trust the protagonist or not. Awesome stuff!
The Mirror World of Melody Black by Gavin Extence

Argh! I don't know how I feel about this book. Nothing much happens - in the sense the plot is rather pedestrian and is an in depth look at one woman's descent into depression where nothing revelatory happens in terms of plot.
However the beautiful honesty this book is written with and the personal experience brought to this book makes it a real heart wrencher and a very comforting book for readers who have been there and suffered through the dark.
I reckon this book will be big big big in 2015 and I can't wait to see where Gavin goes next.

Second Life by S.J. Watson
4.0
After setting the bar so high with Before I Go To Sleep, it was inevitable that Watson's second novel had a lot to live up to. It's always hard when you write such a blinder of a debut novel to step away from the expectation that the next book you write will be even better.
It sounds bizarre, but this book felt like it had been written by a different author. It didn't have the Watson feel to it. It was slow to start and only really picked up pace in the last quarter. Obviously, everything leading up to the ending was relevant but it all seemed to rush to conclude and left it on a frustrating cliffhanger.
This was so unlike BIGTS that it dissapointed me.
I know I shouldn't compare two very different novels with each other but it goes without saying that BIGTS is Watson's best novel and almost nothing can beat it. Which is probably why I felt slightly disappointed with this one.
The protagonist drove me mad in this novel - she felt so weak and made a whole host of silly decisions. I just wanted to shake some sense into her! She does develop well over the course of the novel though and her behaviour can be attributed to past events - however after everything she'd been through,I wanted her to be stronger.
I can't say too much more without going into detail about the plot which will ruin it!
This book is worth reading but sadly don't expect to be blown away like BIGTS.

Phenomenal! Truly gorgeous story which opens up a whole new world to a lot of readers. This book will be huge, I can feel it!
Cold Hands, Warm Heart by Jill Wolfson

Hmm. Great premise, interesting characters and a compelling story line. Lacking in depth though. It felt like this novel only scratched the surface - I would have loved this book to have been twice as long.
