Where do I begin with The last chance library?! This book was such a fun and lighthearted read; it was just what I needed to get me out of the reading slump I have been in.

There were so many aspects of this book that was so enjoyable for me. Firstly there was the main character, June. June is a shy, introverted book lover who is still grieving the loss of her mother that found herself through trying to save the villages beloved library. She really came out of her shell in this book and it was great to see her development from a shy woman who would rather be in the background than the foreground to a woman who wasn’t afraid to shout up for what she believed in. I honestly thought she would be shy the whole book, letting people walk all over her but she didn’t. It was so lovely to see that change in her.

Then the relationship between all the characters in the story, how they all came together despite all their differences to save the library.

There was one thing that brought it down for me and that was just the death of Stanley. I understand why it was incorporated into the story; to give a June that push to fight not only for what she wanted but for what Stanley wanted. But why kill him off. The story could have been left to include him in it but overall it didn’t affect the book and I really enjoyed it.

Also the ending when Alex and June finally confused their feelings!? Yes!! Loved it. I was honestly crushed for her when she misinterpreted Alex’s conversation with Ellie when she rang from the hen do. My heart ached for her so I am so glad it all worked out. If there was a spin off of this book with the development of her and Alex’s relationship after the saving of the library I would so read that!

Overall 5/5
