ADHD Nation: Children, Doctors, Big Pharma, and the Making of an American Epidemic by Alan Schwarz

I got theough the first 5 minutes of this book but it just left a horrible taste in my mouth? I got this book to better understand ADHD, maybe get a few tips to help me in my daily life, not get yelled at that it's overdiagnoed and made up in many kids to be "cool" or "help them do better". Maybe the book gets better as you go on, but like I said, it just left a horrible taste in my mouth the way it talks about ADHD.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
0 hate to the writer, all of my issues with the book are my opinions and should be taken with a grain of salt, if you do like anything that I dislike thats a OK with me.

I felt like the main character ter was a bad mix of a cliche Mary Sue/Bella from Twilight/Manic Pixie Dream Girl/2010s Adorkable that just rubbed me completely the wrong way. It felt like she was an idea of a person, personality quirks shoved together without any substance to hold them together. I didn't get very far into the book though, so this might have improved as the story went on, but right now I couldn't get into the story when I kept going 'Really? That's what how we're doing this?' After every other sentence because it just felt so awkward. (Felt like reading something on Wattpad after reading AO3/expecting to read AO3 quality)

That being said, the premis is very interesting and it's likely that I will come back to it later, with better understanding of what the book is, and I might ret-con this entire review and love this book but we'll see. Right now this is a DNF from me with the possibility of revisiting it down the line.
