While I think I still prefer Noah (The Seat Filler) as a romantic lead, I much prefer Madison and Tyler as a couple! This listening experience was much more enjoyable and I finished it to a great sense of satisfaction rather than exhaustion lol.

This graphic novel is a gorgeous blend of historical fiction, agricultural and desert landscapes, magic, and determination.

I've been meaning to pick this up for ages, so I was very surprised to find my library had an ebook copy! So glad I finally got around to it. The story is simple and sweet. The art is gorgeous. It's a great introductory book for both Halloween and friendship.

I feel like if I were the appropriate age, I would LOVE this series. Very W.I.T.C.H. meets American Dragon Jake Long kinda vibes... I won't be continuing with the series, but I definitely hope young readers enjoy!

I was hoping this would be similar to Our Dining Table by Mita Ori, but it wasn't...
The first story was by far the best, and I wish it had continued on for the rest of the book. The other two were a) very cringy and b) quite underdeveloped. I'm also not a huge fan of the awkwardly kind-of-but-also-not-really-censored sex?? I don't know, I didn't jive with it. Overall, this was a miss for me.

I loved the setting, the melange of cultures, the snarky inner monologue of our heroine, and the mouthwatering descriptions of food, but I've come to realize I have a dealbreaker trope—false accusations; I literally cannot deal with someone being accused of something they didn't do. In fact, I actually think it's a very real phobia that I might have. It's not like I'm very righteous and pristine morals myself, but I get very upset and obsessive when I know someone is innocent and the circumstances are against them. It literally turns my stomach and gives me chest and throat pains lol. I literally cannot handle the stress... So anyway, I enjoyed parts of this, yes, but I'm not sure I'll be reading on... Maybe. I'm probably too curious for my own good and will end up picking up the sequel anyways. Oh well.
