I've been reading Amy and Isabelle by Elizabeth Strout, and this one feels like an appetizer for me, with a twist of darkness. Halfway through, I thought it was ridiculous; I teared up a little in the end. No matter what it looks like, a mother's love is always love, without conditions. The way Atwood depicts the nuance in the relationship between a mother and a daughter is precise, beautiful.
