I did like how the author drew parallels between the Trojan War and the world wars from history, and the commentary on how its the vulnerable who ultimately suffer (women, children elderly) due to the ramifications of war. At the same time, I was finding it difficult to pay attention during the Trojan War segments and felt disconnected from the more emotional moments.

This was a fine sequel, but unfortunately I did not quite love it quite as much as ai did the sequel, especially since I consider the first book to be one of my favorites.

The illustrations were stunning, and I loved how the story felt like I was reading a fairytale with a slightly modern vibe- kind of like Princess Bride or Ella Enchanted.

Okay, the overall theme/metaphor about grief, moving on, and letting go did get me in the end, but for most of the book the story felt a bit repetitive.
