I am utterly speechless. I feel seen and heard and understood so intimately. The characters in this book live and breathe as if they were real people. It is the first time that I’ve seen someone properly encapsulate the beauty, horrors, and consequences of translation. Everything has meaning, everything has purpose. It is without a doubt, one of the best books I’ve ever read in my life.

Dread and grief come in many forms, and this book displays many of them. It makes you ache. My biggest complaint is that this author seems to have never been talked to or even been in the same room as a 9-year-old. The dialogue is extremely unrealistic for the age group.

This book delivered on every single promise and hope I had for it. The dialogue is witty, the characters likable/empathetic, and deeply humorous in times of great pain or feelings of disillusion.

I feel unchanged and apathetic towards this book. Circular plots work if there’s enough development within the circle. Unfortunately, this does not fall into that category.
