"What if we actually inhabit the multiverse, but our brains have evolved in such a way as to equip us with a firewall that limits what we perceive to a single universe?"

DARK MATTER questions the possibility of multi-verses, with every multi-verse everything that can possibly happen will happen. The reader follows Jason on his journey from being kidnapped and being held in a lab, he escapes to then realise things are not how they were before he was taken, his wife is not his wife, he does not have a child as he thought he did and his best friend is sleeping with who he thought was his wife!

Jason is confused and unsure of what is happening, he opens up to the people who he loves most which puts them in a lot of danger. Jason comes to the realisation that he is not in his universe anymore, he finds out how that is possible and now all he has to do is find the way back to his universe which a different version of Jason has entered by creating a box that is full of possibilities leading to all different kinds of worlds – easy right?

Jason has to fight to get back to the life he once knew, what he doesn’t know is that there is an endless amount of Jason’s that have also came to fight him for his life.

"So if the world really splits whenever something is observed, that means there’s an unimaginably massive, infinite number of universes- a multiverse-where everything that can happen will happen."

I found myself going back and forth in this book, I read the first 60 pages and I wasn’t enjoying it, that being said I had heard nothing but good things about it, so, I carried on. After a few more chapters I found myself enjoying it, the pacing picked up, I enjoyed reading about Jason and I liked his wife and son too. Then once everything was out in the open and I knew what the full plot was, I found myself losing interest again.

DARK MATTER was not what I was expecting unfortunately and I found the book to be rather disappointing. I think if I had went in with lower expectations I could have enjoyed this book, it was a fun and entertaining read but it wasn’t the gripping thriller I had hoped for.
