Unfortunately wasn't as good as Seven Husband's or Malibu Rising, I can see why people love this but it wasn't for me. I don't really like Carrie Soto and I wish this had been more so about her relationship with her father than all the Tennis she played..

All in all this one wasn't for me but I did really enjoy how it all came together at the end.

1. Used Record - ★★★★

This short story collection started out strong, I love horror around music and it being a second hand record was fun too.

2. Shiver - ★★★★

I gave Shiver a 3.5 stars, rounded up to a 4. It made my skin crawl, I'm not one for holes as body horror, it creeps me the hell out! But I just think this could have been a bit stronger, would have liked more from this one.

3. Fashion Model - ★★★

Again, another short story that was just a bit too short.. I loved the protagonist and the art work so much in this one, but I need more!

4. Hanging Blimp - ★★

The concept of your head coming after you to hang you is definitely a weird one but it wasn't for me. There wasn't a lot to this story either, I think this could have been left out.

5. Marionette Mansion - ★★★★

The funny thing about this one is that I keep thinking about it! The concept of being controlled like a puppet (quite literally) was really fun and weird of course. I go back and forth on my rating for this because it feels like it deserves a 5 star rating but I'm not sure if there was anything that pushed it to that 5 star for me either.

6.Painter -★★★

This was good but just as good as Tomie was, I also rated Tomie 3 stars and honestly I don't need any more from her. For me Tomie is one of the more bland concepts.

7.The Long Dream - ★★★★

Another that I have been debating whether it deserves that 5 star rating! The concept was fascinating, I could imagine this being made into a novel, a movie or TV show.. just something, I want and need more please! I think this misses the mark of a 5 star rating because of how it ended and maybe because I just needed more?

8. Honored Ancestors - ★★

I get it.. The idea and the art in this one was very creepy but this story wasn't for me.

9. Greased - ★★★★

What the hell was this? Junji Ito has the talent to come up with things that you just could never come up with yourself and give you new fears, this is now a new fear for me. My skin crawled and I felt so uncomfortable.

10. Fashion Model - ★★

Wasn't needed but again, I'm a big fan of our Fashion Model.

Ugh.

"Grab her by the c*nt, she's a d*ke, she likes that!" & "The little girl also kissed him, which was sort of nice, although it would have been nicer if she'd been a babe." among other lines is why this gets a one star and deserves nothing more.

This was just okay. Don't think I'll read anymore by Stephen G. Michaud as I had DNF'd Conversations with a Killer by him too.

The dialogue from Ted Bundy was the most interesting part but other than that, this was longwinded and a bit all over the place.

The Last Good Summer started out really well. It starts with a flashback chapter and then a present-day chapter straight after. Those chapters had me intrigued, and there were a lot of questions I needed the answers to.

I enjoyed the characters and was enjoying where the story seemed to be going. That was until the story started unravelling.

I felt that the past and present events didn't link up as much as I'd have liked them to and when we found out the 'who done it' I felt like it was kind of a cop out..

That being said, the premise was good and I enjoyed the writing barring one or two things here and there that may have been edited out in the finished product and I would read from the author again.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Spensa, a teenage outcast, dreams of being a pilot, just like her father was, but her father had been labelled a coward, and with that comes a lot of hardship for Spensa.

YA is very hit or miss for me, and I find Sci-fi to be a difficult genre, so naturally, I was rather nervous going into Skyward.. oh, how silly of me. This is Brandon Sanderson we're talking about here!!

"Claim the stars."

I recently finished Tress of the Emerald Sea, and I couldn't connect to Tress as the main character, Skyward was the total opposite, I loved Spensa! She's not perfect. She has to deal with a lot of disappointment and face a lot of challenges, but I was there with her, feeling everything she felt, rooting for her until the very end. But not only did we have Spensa, we had a whole bunch of characters that I fell in love with; Jorgen, M-Bot & Captain Cobb!!

And don't get me started on the Krell.. how cool are they?!

"Do you ever see anything... strange, Spin?" he asked. "In the darkness?" "Like what?" "Eyes," he said softly. "Hundreds of small eyes, opening up in the blackness surrounding you. As if the attention of the entire universe has suddenly focused on you and you alone."

This was a 500+ paged book that I could have read in one sitting if it wasn't for life getting in the way.

Skyward is fun, which I was expecting, but it's also much more than that. It's deep, it's meaningful, and it's beautiful.

And from now on, I'm reading anything Sanderson has ever written, no matter the format or genre, because that man is a genius.

Better than I expected but I think it ended suddenly and I believe I'd have appreciated this more as a full length novel.
