This was a mix of The Haunting of Hill House, Mexican Gothic and apparently some inspiration from The Fall of the House of Usher which I've never read before but would like to give it a go after listening to the authors note at the end of What Moves the Dead.

I really freaking enjoyed this and loved T. Kingfisher's writing. I've been drawn to horrors lately and have been trying to find some good ones, I'm really hoping this is the start of something great & hope I enjoy Kingfisher's other works as much as I enjoyed this one.

This was too wordy for me - What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher was definitely the better out of the two.

This was hard to read at times, I had to put it down and go back to it a few times.

Although I think this is an important book, I do feel like there was something missing and the layout, going back and forth between The Yorkshire Ripper events and Una's personal experiences threw me off a bit.

This started out so beautiful, and I expected it to get weird because it's Iain Reid.. that being said, it never went far enough, in my opinion.

The writing was great, the concept was great, but it didn't pack a punch as much as I would have wanted it to.

I just don't think Steven Graham Jones is for me..

This was just okay.

This had so much potential, and I loved the setup, but just after the 50% mark, I found myself beginning to struggle. By the end of it I think the only redeeming factor was the atmosphere, I really enjoyed the setting which was what I expected to enjoy the least due to it being set in the UK, I usually don't navigate towards books that are set in the country I was born in.

I was not a fan of the main character, but what was worse than that was the relationship that had no reason being there, it felt very forced, and I found myself cringing throughout. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be carrying on with this series.
