Not bad, not great. I read it while sick in bed and wanted something easy and enjoyable, and it was exactly that.

I already knew how this story ends because I read the journal article for uni, but I still really enjoyed the book. It was thrilling and emotional and captivated me. I read it in like three sittings.

I found this book so dense and difficult to get into. Pamuk created a beautiful, complex world but told the story in such a complicated, drowning-in-detail way that I got frustrated and had to stop reading multiple times. I kind of enjoyed the last chapter though
