Open House by Elizabeth Berg

If you've ever gone through a divorce then you'll relate to Sam in this book. It's true to life and the obstacles you go through when you're life can be turned upside down. It's a little more romance than I am used to, but I enjoyed the book.

This was a book recommended by a librarian for the summer reading contest. It was delightful, funny and at moments awkward. Each story/essay is written with such wit and they can be read in any order. It was nice to read something so different yet so entertaining.

A friend loaned me this book. She remembered it from childhood and of course I had never read it. So it's a short quick read for an adult. It's a cute little story and what trouble it is to invite a cat and witch into your dollhouse. This poor girl got blamed for all the mischief. Cute read.
The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo

This book was out of my comfort zone. A bit to romantic than I normally read, but it wasn't to bad. I can see how mistakes were taken by Lucy and it's so incredibly selfish of her. If there is a love that big you shouldn't hurt others to have it. Why not be honest with husband and herself? Feeling trapped and staying in a marriage for convenience and not love is not unheard of, but just sad. Gabe was just as selfish. I get it when when Lucy's husband tells her Gabe left her 10 years ago, so why does she keep going back? Now Lucy will have a son and will lie to him his whole life about who his real father until it suits her? Again so selfish.

The first few chapters I couldn't have cared much about, but after that it got better. Her life has been interesting and there's some practical advice in the things she's been through. It shows how life experiences can shape our lives and how to be inspired by those around us.

This book reads like a soap opera. You are made to hate the main character Amber right off the bat and that won't change. I did like the twist at the end that made the whole book better. It's just a bit over the top how things played out in this story, but that's what fiction is all about.

What a cute story of love and devotion. I kind of wish my library had a cat. A wonderful read.
