I liked how reflective the book was. The focus on the people and their relationships was the right call for a book with this theme. One might argue that not much happened or that there wasn't enough description of how it affected the world but I feel like the book struck the right balance between personal story and showing political implications.
Overall I was really invested in the characters' fates and I will think about this books for a long time for sure.

I liked the concept but I didn't find the characters interesting or likeable and the narrator's accent choices were really annoying to listen to.

I wasn't fond of the male protagonist because his possessiveness annoyed me but other than that I had lots of fun listening to the book. Ada is a great character, she's a strong woman who knows what she wants, is really loyal and has strong moral code. I only wish this book had a bit more of the intriguing political setting than the romance which I found mediocre.

I loved her other books, but this one was a disappointment. I didn't care for the mystery nor the narration style. It's not a long book but it felt super slow to me, despite the fact I listened at 1.6 speed.

Wow, this book is really something. I don't have relatable experiences to the protagonists but it felt so realistic and vivid. It showed complexities of womanhood and friendship really well.

Despite the language barrier (I was mostly unfamiliar with terms pertaining to lodgings, clothes etc) this was a surprisingly readable book. I didn't like any of the protagonists but yet I really wanted to know what happened to them. I would love to read something with a similar setting but based on the preface by Evaristo I'm unlikely to find that, since it's an underexplored topic.

I enjoyed it a bit less because of the labyrinth part, it was interesting at first but became super hard to follow.and understand. The romance was ok, although at that point I'm hoping for some variety in the series, they all follow a very similar trajectory.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were slightly less annoying in their will-they-won't-they dynamics than in the previous book in the series, it felt like they had better reasons for their hesitation. It became a bit annoying after a while though, I would have loved a shorter slow-burn. Luckily there was enough action to keep me distracted from my annoyance.
