This was everything I needed in a rom-com. The friendship between Fox and Hannah was sweet and totally believable, and gives the relationship something to stand on. I really appreciated that Hannah is so in-tune with her own thoughts and feelings. She is honest with herself and with Fox and I thought their dynamic was refreshing for a romance. Too often one or the other is lying to themselves or their partner and there isn't any of that in this story. There is also the signature Tessa Bailey tension and spice, which is always perfection.

Foley said that this was a new form for her, and I think that is evident in the writing. I felt the way that she really pushed the reader into feeling and believing and what she wanted was too forced. Almost every chapter ends in some kind of leading statement or question and I think it was too blunt to be believable. I felt that the characters were trying to deceive me and therefore didn't trust any of their thoughts or actions, which really pulled me from the story in the end. And because I didn't trust anyone, I picked up on all the clues and figured out what was happening pretty early into the book. Overall, I felt that the characters were trying too hard to be deceptive and the story overall was rather predictable.
