I listened to the audiobook version, read by the author Junauda. It is so beautiful and while I didn’t see the illustrations, the words evoke big illustrations in my mind. I lived in North Minneapolis when George Floyd was murdered and I have visited George Floyd Square, both when it was held safe and blockaded by the South Minneapolis Black community, and after the city ruined the beautiful community gathering place it was. It is still there of course, but not the same. The images in my mind may have been more of the streets of North Minneapolis than South, and this was wonderfully narrated. I hope to see the illustrations in the future.
