for someone who’s not the biggest fan of the bully trope, I sure did have a lot of fun reading this. It gave serious dramione vibes, and made me want to rewatch the hp movies again even though i just rewatched them only a few weeks ago. the two (supposedly) unloved children finding love within each other…and it was no thanks to the one and only lucie delombre. speaking of lucie, i loved the music score plot; it was so unique and intriguing to me. it gave ‘murder mystery’ without the murder, and with music instead of the usual crime investigation. and i absolutely loved how the story ended with her playing in the orchestra like ifykyk i wanna cry awwww.
levi delombre is literally the definition of unhinged. his obsession with dalia and his insane prodigal ability to cyberhack and then use his talent to watch dalia??? insanity, but lowk cute…maybe i’m the unhinged one 🌚 anyways, i loved his growth, he went from this insane bully (he’s still a bully don’t get me wrong) to dalia to this man who would literally do anything to make her happy, even if it means going against his morals (again, don’t ask me what morals he has lmao) and then dalia, when she finally stood up to her father?? literally so proud 🥹
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

i can't even lie, i think this might be one of the best prequels i've ever read. kennedy ryan is such an amazing writer (we already knew this, though) that i truly did not feel like it was a prequel. i was getting so into the story, and then it was just... over... like book one me right nowwwww thanks. but in all honesty, this was a really great introduction into the story of grip and bristol omg
i knew i was going to cry, but from the first page (the start of first year, not the prologue)??? i wanna give joey and aoife and the rest of them a hug 🥺 they deserve the world.
she was cute. gave me Hallmark vibes lowkey, but it was nothing off-putting. and arielle, i didn’t hate her, she was actually pretty mature compared to any other exes in other books i’ve read. daisy and stella are literally the cutest ever omg i adore them so bad. one thing though, that wasn’t giving me the 4⭐️ feel was the insta-love feeling almost. tt’s like grady moved back, and it was like him and vivi were in love already, but i guess it‘s a childhood best friends to lovers, so it makes sense.
genevieve, aka vivi, is a plus size girlie, who, though confident in her skin, has a few insecurities that she still has yet to overcome from people closest to her who has hurt her. vivi definitely grew throughout the book in healing from those past traumas, and it was shown well in the story.
grady is a single dad with two daughters, stella and daisy. he too, has his own internal battles to overcome, and i feel like it was also represented pretty well throughout the whole story. his relationship with his daughters was so cute, you can just tell that he loves the hell out of those two little girls. it’s clear that he’s a very genuine person, and this is also reflected in his relationship with his ex, as both parties are extremely mature in their coparenting tactics and how the other chooses to engage in their personal lives.
overall, i really did have a lot of fun reading this, and i highly recommend if you love hallmark, and need a quick, fun, summer-like read, or even if you need a quick palette cleanser, this would do the trick.
i actually really liked dante in the aspect that he had the strong belief of never harming women or children. being head of his mafia family, a lot of time in the books, the mmc does not give a single damn about who he harms, but i loved how dante truly cares about his family, and gave off true morally grey character vibes, because yk his moral compass wasn’t completely in the dumps. and adalina, i actually ADORED her, i loved how strong she was, and how even though she endured so much growing up, that she still had this dominant personality about her. she wasn’t a flat character, and i feel like a lot of fmc’s, especially ones who were in situations like adalina’s, just have no personality to them, as they are so fragile and vulnerable. i would continue to read more from this author because i actually liked the side characters, and i’m curious to hear their stories, despite all the wattpad feels i did get from this.
