This book hooked me from the very first paragraph.
It’s 2020 and emotions are all over the place, so I had to take this book in small chunks but it never left my mind.
These stories from this perspective was fascinating and beautiful. It was so funny at times and so powerful the ENTIRE time.
A book hasn’t made me ugly cry in a long, long, long time but this really opened the floodgates for me.

As someone who has endured a relationship like this, I had to read this very quickly, even though I am not a naturally fast reader. I’m always amazed at the way that Machado can use words to get you to feel, viscerally, a moment that you’ll never be able to describe on your own.
The formatting of this book aids in the lost, academic, funhouse feeling.
I’m grateful that this story has been written. Queer abuse is real and valid and rarely discussed.
