i would’ve been okay with not reading this, for me personally i felt like the romance between dante and valentina wasn’t enticing, it didn’t leave you wanting more. it fell a bit flat, and the whole ‘lessons’ thing gave me a huge ick

I can imagine how it would look to live there, and I know the things I would do, but I can't feel it.
I can't say yes.’

change & healing doesn’t come smoothly nor easily, this isn’t a fairytale where a single meeting with a fairy or a prince is going to fix all problems

“she didn’t have any character development”
.. yes she did.

her days spent with mabel made her realize some things, her denial, her regret, her love, her loneliness,  & most of all her longing for someone to be by her side. mabel forced her back into reality, doused her in cold water when her body was as dry as a desert.

marin, is a very raw & real character, she is so human. she is learning how to move on and become her own person. she is tying up split ends, fixing relationships, working through her grief and finding how to be herself between other people.

this is a story of grief, loss, love & acceptance.
she didn’t need any major character development, the changes she made, even if they started small will get bigger and eventually she will find herself a different person surrounded by things that she can be proud of.

‘ And I have yet another chance, and I take it.
"Yes," I say. "Yes." ‘

Did not finish book. Stopped at 47%.
i could not care less about what happens next, i’ve finally given up.

this was the most annoying book i’ve ever forced myself to read & i didn’t even finish it. so here’s everything that pissed me off in this book:

this is not love; this is pure lust. this book describes them as falling in love and all that about deeper feelings and such, when really all they’re doing is having sex & calling it a spiritual awakening lol. they don’t love each other, they never did not for a second. see idk how this book progresses from here (and i don’t care) but all. they. did. for all 50% of this book. is meet up 4 times & have sex every single time.. not even a moment of breath and they’re jumping each other. and the smut was like 10 pages long each time i got sick of it.

our mmc is mute; he cannot talk. and this bitch is so annoying about it!! not a chapter did she not ‘wish he could talk’ it. is so. infuriating. you’d think she’d accept him for who he is and love him for everything that makes him *him*. but no!! it’s all “i wish he could talk” & she goes insane over him making any type of sound it’s crazy… and of course, she can’t keep this to herself she must mention to him how much she wishes he could speak to her & how him uttering a single noise has her panties in a twist. she spares no details. (we don’t talk about that ‘you can growl?’ scene… absolutely horrendous.)

and then she’s all woe is me GOD. she’s annoying!!!

she has so many expectations of him, since the start of this book she’s had the ‘he’s not like other guys’ syndrome,, and yet she changes her mind about him every damn page.. once it’s oh my god this man i’m in love with him and the next it’s oh no he’s dangerous idk what he could do to me he’s just like everyone else and i shouldn’t trust him, like this keeps happening on & off the whole time!? & with nothing triggering it!! it’s not like he does something to hurt her so she becomes wary,, no! he’s treating her like a damn prize & she’s here wallowing in her self pity, blaming him for her own problems

she says “we need to stop” & “we can’t do this” every. single. chapter. at LEAST once. and many variations of that phrase,,

they have stupid arguments every chapter. and when i say stupid i mean stupid. each one ending with keenen walking away and her screaming ‘wait!’, it gets repetitive and annoying by the fifth time

she doesn’t want people to find out she’s sleeping with a *mute man*,, she thinks it’s a subject of shame so she’s trying to keep their situation under wraps, which is so messed up btw bc there is no shame in being with someone with a disability & her thinking that that’s the main problem rather than the fact that she’s sleeping with a guy from a rival company that’s also her cousins long time crush—said cousin works at said rival company— and is very competitive with her and could very much choose to ruin her whole life,, the fact that she thinks him being mute is worse than all of this… just wow

she made absolutely no effort 100% of the time, she didn’t try to make things better, well, ever. he was always the one reaching out even when she was wrong, and it feels like she only says she cares but her actions say otherwise

they never took anything seriously, like.. the threat of her literally failing at her job & the whole reason she was there, the threat of raising more family drama & even getting fired all got ignored in favor of having meaningless sex lol.

basically, this was very annoying, and i hate it. i had sooo many expectations, instead of getting a romance where our mmc finds someone who loves and appreciates him as he is we get .. whatever this is.

another part that was really weird was her relationship with her cousin!! the things he said to her were completely inappropriate, and idk abt u guys but i don’t tell my cousins id smash if we weren’t cousins lmfao..

spencer was also really fucking annoying, stereotypical cheater bf who suddenly now wants her back, penny being the stereotypical blonde antagonist who is in love with our mmc, dominic was decent, i liked his banter with our girl but he was weird to her & didn’t try to stand up for her. basically no one in this damn book was likeable. they all fucking sucked and i hated every second of reading this.

the only decent thing that let me going was reading keenan’s emails, it felt like they were written by a different author, they were more meaningful & actually made me feel something for the book, they built suspense too and a sense of mystery bc they were from the future & we had to kinda connect the pieces of what’s going on. but it wasn’t enough lol cuz here i am.

as much as i LOVE the unread letter (in this case email) trope,,,, this book failed me too much to be able to enjoy it

that’s all i have to say. don’t fucking waste ur time like i did. 😭
