A Little Bit Country by Brian D. Kennedy
As a lesbian who grew up in East Tennessee where Dolly Parton is our official-unofficial Saint, this book made me very happy, a little homesick, and filled with bitter sweet warmth at the end. I hope this author will continue writing, even without the rampant waves of nostalgia this book would have made me ridiculously giddy.
You & I, Rewritten by Chip Pons
This book…is weird. The first ~3/4 is a romance that I found unconvincing even though I liked both of the characters, and then the last ~¼ is a book that is better written and about addiction and US military veterans. It really feels like the author WANTED to write a book about addiction and the US military but for some reason decided to put up a weak romance façade around it. Once the book changes over it doesn’t feel like the same book AT ALL and the relationship between the two characters becomes a very minor sub plot. Very odd.
