interesting qual study; I agree with the author's takeaway that moralizing and considering privilege/wealth/affluence only on an individual basis is somewhat unproductive considering our society's conception of worthiness. Idk what the answers are, but I do believe Sherman got us closer to asking better questions.

I have so many thoughts about this trilogy and the book that this captures (Imago). Octavia's commentary is that of what it means to be human, to live, and to consent. It also talks about aliens and what it means to be "saved". Like is Mars a good enough outcome? The mating process - is it equitable and fair? What is she trying to say about the different arrangements of family and the biological nature of attraction, pain, and destruction? THOUGHT. PROVOKING. I do think Dawn and Adulthood Rites were the strongest writing, but all three introduce new elements and questions. WOOF.

Bea's binging and purging, as well as the factors that triggered it were well-written. Otherwise, this book didn't quite land
