The Amazing Spider-Man: Armed and Dangerous by Zeb Wells

At this point Otto behaves too much like a pathetic loser to be an interesting villain. I don't like how Norman talks about Kamala as if they were friends. The best parts were the moments between Beetle&Black Cat and Robbie&Peter at the end of their bachelor/bachelorette parties.

This got dark REAL fast. But this is more than just a look into how dark things could've been and how far Peter would've gone. It's a look into who Peter is. I like the other characters in this too. I have always loved how Zdarsky writes Jonah, and this is no exception. MJ and Johnny have some great moments. The ending was beautiful and made me tear up a bit. I really love when the comics show the bond between Spidey and the Fantastic Four.

I love Johnny and Reed in this. I don't even usually like Reed, but their shenanigans are hilarious. Johnny Storm fans are thriving.

I just love the fact that Peter and Johnny meet at the Statue of Liberty every Christmas morning. Venom Claus was fun too.

I liked the brief appearances of Johnny and Miles, but otherwise not super enjoyable. Rocket's "Blam! Murder!" catchphrase got annoying.

I read this mostly to see the start of Peter and Johnny's friendship. It's nice to see how Johnny starts calling Spidey his friend after their first team-up, and I like that the two get four issues together rather than just one. But the book is really just ok. Not bad, not great.

It is interesting to see Peter get his powers at age 35, married with children, and to see how different everything is in this universe. I also like his scruffy look, and his daughter is cute. I'm just not totally hooked at this point. I don't get Peter's motivation. It's not a sense of responsibility to protect people, but the pull of destiny calling him to be a hero.

With so many standalone issues and two-parters, I'm not going to like every story in this run. But when it's good, it's REALLY good, and this run is growing on me more as I grow to appreciate Ryan North's versatility. I'm giving this five stars mostly for #20 where Johnny and Ben are working, but the plot in the next two issues is interesting too.
