I'm very conflicted about how to rate this book, because I found the first half (40%) terribly, horribly slow and annoying, and then it suddenly became amazing and I couldn't put it down and read the last 60% in a day, I couldn't put it down.

Ohhhh I loved this book.
The plot was SPECTACULAR.
The characters were as well (I love them all so much)
The world was so interesting.
I need the third book now because I don't want to leave those characters behind

That end was devastating. When Will realized that James was wearing the Collar 😭

Okay my bet for Book 3's title is Dark King

This was my second read of that book, 4 years after the first, and wow, I remember why it was my all-time book for a long time.
The characters are amazing, and so well constructed, every single one of them.
I loved the exploration of the empire, and how good people can fight for evil, it's soooo interesting.

This book was insanely good.
It took a bit long to start, but then I couldn't stop

It was really interesting, but maybe not as much as I'd hoped.
For me it was a but too reliant on citing old texts in old English, without explaining them as much as I would've liked. Or it just straight up just quoted the Shadowhunter's Codex and not adding anything more.
Also, there was a lot of typos or weird formatting, but that might be because my copy was apparently printed by Amazon ?

This is like, my fourth time reading this book, and I still love it just as much.

Things I hope to see in the next book :
– Why did Callyn's mother have a magic necklace?!?!?!?
– Jax and Rhen
– Jax and Emberfall
– More about the Scravers and the history of magesmiths
– Nolla Verin instructing Callyn and Nora in self defense
– Noah !
