I liked reading this book. It was a well written story that kept my interest. It reminded me of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie novels, which is always a plus because I love her as well; so if you like her you'll like this novel as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love West's wit and while she tells these stories with humor, she also makes sure to cut through with valid and thought provoking and some would hope very common sense points. I definitely think it's required reading. Also, I love the book cover.

2.5. This book is a beach read through-and-through. It started off well enough, but then all of the sudden Diane was going on an island trip with her neighbor who seemed to grow fond of her-miraculously overnight and before you know it-they're in love!! Like it went from 0-100 REAL quick!! And then throw in a crazy ex and a love confession and then her just peacing the F*#@ out back to France. It was just so random and it all seemed hodge-podged together.

Long story short, it was bananas.

2.5. Honestly, I picked up this book for three reasons: 1) It was a goodreads choice awards nominee, 2) It was available at the library; 3) I've watched a couple episodes of "Will & Grace" but didn't even know he was a part of it until reading his bio on the back flap.

2.5. Honestly, this book was meh. I loved the caustic language she uses and I think she got the dynamic between Toby and Rachel just right. But it wasn't anything remarkable. And the narrator was so distracting/confusing, that at some points, I thought, "Who is talking? Why are we hearing this random story about Israel?" But hey, I got through it, and another Goodreads Choice Awards nominee crossed off the list.

I loved this book. As someone who loves therapy, I found everything she shared to be poignant, in the touching and keen sense of the word. I think the way she portrays therapists in the book injects some much needed humanity that people might forget is there (after all, therapists are people, too). It also felt like a 400 page therapy session for myself. It brought up some interesting points that made me think.

Listening to this on audiobook was thrilling. There were multiple voice actors, which made everything seem like you were listening to a recording of the TV show. It really is a great whodunit--you don't really know the truth until the last moment. I loved it and am finally glad I popped my Agatha Christie cherry.

3.5 stars. It was a cute story. And one I’m sure is similar to a lot of people all over. I feel like it was just too YA for my taste, emotions wise. But overall a quick, entertaining read. I definitely didn’t want to put it down.

Honestly, I really enjoyed this book. 4 stars because it wasn't life changing or something I'll be thinking about for days, but overall a good read I'd recommend to anyone just looking for a captivating story about a family that gets tangled up in a few messes but somehow ends up okay at the end. I really liked the conclusion of the book, too. Not really what I was expecting but I liked the ~positive vibes~ it gave me for their futures and a glimpse into the power of forgiveness/acceptance.

This book was well written. I thought it was just going to be about Jean McConville's disappearance, but wound up about a tumultuous and insane period of time in Northern Ireland. I honestly had no idea any of this happened. But it was so informative and interesting to read about.
