I finished it Megan are you proud of me! Anyway, eh good book, I mean the conflict to me was a bit silly but maybe it wouldn’t make sense to me as someone who isn’t neurodivergent. I liked it honestly but you know what this story is lacking. An Aaron. We had semblances of an Aaron in this but it came too late and we got no satisfaction of his downfall. Anyway idk I would write a more in depth review but it didn’t impact me enough to put in the effort (not in like a horrible way It just didn’t make me hate it so much that I had to write a review or any wild moments I had to point out)

I’ve never been too fond of modern poetry but I have to say that Wendy Cope truly proves my pre conceptions of it wrong. When her poems are not funny they are truly heartwarming or down right gut wrenching. One of my favourite is of course the collections name sake which details the simple pleasures of every day life, which is a repeated theme through out the collection and it truly provides a simpler more reflective outlook on one’s own life. A wonderful collection that I feel anyone can enjoy, poet enthusiast or not

Eh, I don’t know what to say really, I thought the drama of this book was exceedingly good, it had a nice mystery with some cool plot twists but as a romance it is rather lacking. Both characters are happy in the end but it doesn’t feel as rewarding , their romance seemed rushed and told to the reader rather then shown.

Okay the series is back to being quite cutsie, this book still has some pretty dark moments but it’s still quite a relaxed romance. I don’t feel like their love was rushed at all and it’s actually quite fleshed out with it being the main focus of the book (you would think, it being a romance and all). Both of the main characters are definitely flawed but they both grow and mature the more they know each other which is just adorable. It gets a lil goofy at one point but overall, very chilled and entertaining.

Ah it was so cute I love it. Their love story is just so sweet and it’s clear both characters were really well thought out and entirely unique. Ah it’s adorable

He’s, ugh, a lil fucking rapey. He meets her, didn’t ask for her name, neither one of them have said anything and he kisses her, excuse me? Where’s the consent? Where’s the hello my name is. then he spends the next hundred pages trying to fuck her while she’s like ‘yeah no Ill loose my job if you try and fuck me’ and he’s like ‘na actually I don’t care’. This book just tried to jam in so many story lines it’s crazy, like they both have some dark backstories with people wanting to kill them and it’s too much drama (how am I saying that?). it’s just really dark, she nearly gets like r-worded like 4 times and nearly murdered. The last book was so cutsie and I thought this was gonna be such a chill series because of it, in reality this book is just a stark contracts to the previous ‘friends to lovers who really like sweet treats’ book, how is this the same series? Their love also felt one note to me, it was never really developed beyond love at first sight. I say all this but I guess I was entertained, I mean it doesn’t lack a dramatic story which is good I guess but I mean, I struggled.

Ah I love this book. Miss Jackson does it again, she just leaves lil breadcrumbs that I think nothing of and then they make so much sense by the end, masterful writing. Buttttttt do I think the ending was a bit rushed, yeah which is a shame cuz if it was just slightly longer it would have been perfect. Ah anyway, fuck you Oliver, that being said tho I did love his and everyone else deteriorating mental states, with each character having a moment where they kind of crack and it’s just so realistic and perfectly executed.

This book is just genuinely cute. I can’t find much fault in the main characters, especially Marcus (shocker because Julia has a bit of a weird streak with writing men). It was just a cute relaxing love story, super easy to read with lovable characters. I didn’t even intend to read the Smythe-Smith series but it’s just so good I have to. I would describe this book as Bridgerton but more goofy.

This book is honestly such a heartwarming end to the series, particularly violets epilogue. It was beautiful written and very bitter sweet.
