this book was beyond lovely! I  found it extremely similar to A Man Called Ove, if only the protagonist was a traumatized-middle aged woman. At times i will say the plot was relatively predictable, however i think that the curveball thrown at the very end proved shocking enough on its own. I also enjoyed the emphasis that the book placed on purely platonic relationships, as they can often prove just as, if not more, intimate than those of romantic interest. Overall, an amazing story, that accurately  portrays the modern struggles that accompany womanhood.

This piece of literature is undeniably beautifully written, so much so, as to force one to hate themselves for enjoying it so much. When reading Lolita, the reader is taken through a whirlwind of emotions, as the actions of the protagonist are often vile and repulsive. However, the tender vulnerability of Nabokov’s writing allows for a sense of understanding from the readers perspective, enough to make one’s stomach turn knowing the character with which they are made to sympathize is quite plainly a horrid creature.

This book made me feel like i know nothing. I would like to think that if only i had studied socrates’ teachings prior to reading this piece, i would have gained a much greater understanding of the content.
